Hi I am a 38 year old male originally from Newcastle upon Tyne, I have ballooned over the years to 215/220 lbs (about 15.5 stone). I have never really worried about my weight, however, clothes have started getting tight. So I have decided to try to get back to my rugby playing weight of 170lbs. See attached picture of me at 214lbs on monday.
Nothing major, just cutting out coke etc, and processed rubbish. half our exercise daily plus where permitting a half hour walk at lunch.

Wooo, another English person! I'm living in Portsmouth :) Welcome to the forum - 170lb seens doable - how tall are you? I'm 5'10 and I looked good at around 175 so want to get back to there :)

Hi Geordie and welcome to the forum :) cutting out coke and processed junk sounds like a solid plan; do you enjoy cooking?
Best of luck, LaMa.

Hi Geordie & another welcome to the forum :D
Cutting out junk food & soft drink alone will make such a difference. Your body will sigh with relief. All the best, Cate.

Welcome to the forum, Geordie.

Seems like you got a good plan - cutting out some bad stuff and getting some exercise in a few times per week - you'll get where you want to be.

Thank you very much for the warm welcome ladies and gents.
Sunflower I am 5'8" so when I was around 170lbs before it felt like the right weight.
I am now 5 days without caffeine, fizzy pop, alcohol, sweets/crisps, not only am I feeling better and a couple of pounds lighter but also I have more money in my pocket (good with Christmas round the corner) as instead of about my previous spend would have been 2 cans of pop £1.30, packet of crisps £0.70, bar of chocolate £0.70 + lunch £2 total =£4.70 x 5 days £23.50 per week, I bought oranges, apples and bananas for snacks plus 1 lime to flavour water total was less than £5 and then I have had soup for dinner £1 per can so £10 per week meaning this week I will have saved at least £13.50 or £702 per year.
who said eating healthy was expensive.
look forward to speaking more.

Thank you cate, went swimming with the eldest today (9 year old) for a bit of father son time. then we had a family meal at mcdonalds, I had salad!! no dressing and water, will weigh myself for week 1 with a photo on monday.

We had a good time then on the bikes today, the youngest has just learned to ride so fun to see her enjoy it.
Plenty of housework. just about to make tea.

Week 1 complete and picture to track, I have held off weighing myself until today as previous diets have seen me weighing daily, I am glad I have not this time.
Start weight 214.4lbs
Week 1 weight 208.6lbs

Depending on your side of the pond sub 210 might not be a big thing but to an englishman, I have gone this week from 15st4lbs to 14st12lbs. very happy

:) O, I know the numbers, I just don't understand: why 14? 12 would make some kind of sense (we do hours and the degrees of a circle in multiples of 6 after all) but dividing by 7s is always hard. But hey, traditions tend to be resilient.

Well 10am gmt, kids off to school, I am on 12:30 - 20:30 at work. so time for a 25 minute shadow boxing workout and some kettlebells.

Exercise is starting to become a habit again which is good and I have woken up without a headache from sugar and caffeine cravings.

Onwards and upwards people.
