Chest infection weights or run?

I had a cold about three and a half weeks ago and was only sick for about 3 days with it but it's stayed in my chest. I went to the doctors today and found out I have a chest infection and I've been put on antibiotics.

Now for the big issue, I'm running in my first 10km fun run on Sunday morning and I took a day off yesterday and I'm wondering what I should do today? I normally take one day a week off and today would be my day to do a 7km or 10km run depending on how I feel and tomorrow I'd do weights.

With my chest infection do you think I should do a slow hour long run or do my weights program today? Or alternatively take the day completely off which I never do? Help I can't decide for myself!

Oh, okay. Yeah, that's what I thought. I always remember Aussie time as 8 hours behind in the next day.

So the run is not for a while. I was assuming that anyway. Hope you heal quickly. :)

hrmmm i think its hard thing sometimes you will get rid of the infection but sometimes you will make it worse . You could push it into pnenomia if you make the wrong descision . if you still feel fevery i would give it a miss . If you just have some plegm i would see how you go but don't be suprised if you can't run very far . Which 10km run is this anyhoo?

Just a local one in Sydney my big one is the blackmores half marathon in September!

Interestingly enough I had a warm bath and felt like I was about to die in the first ten minutes but then after that I started sweating and felt amazing. I think I'll just leave it and not do anything today as hard as it is for me, I never have more than one day off in a week let alone the day after one I've just taken off! :eek2:

i usually train as long as my chest is clear , it has warded off some colds and flu's this way. But how often do you train ? How long have you been training without a break.

I had issues with missing training too , it's becomes addictive. I was a bit scared to take a week off a while ago when i had that flu that was going around. But you are supposed to take a week off every 12 weeks of continious training as a good measure.

Good luck in the run , i am going to try the bridge to brisbane soon . I am not a runner at all :p

Post plenty of pictures of the problem area so that an honest advice about your situation can be given :yelrotflmao: ... just kidding
