The kids are on Spring Break right now and have the entire week off school. Like typical kids, all they do the entire day is go outside and play with their friends. That's all they want to do - that's all they care about. Well, NOT TODAY, kids!!!
Today, they will be spending the whole day at their grandma's.
See, their grandma doesn't do anything with them. She sits there and ignores them the whole time while she plays on her tablet. Literally, she just puts on cartoons and then sits there ignoring them. I took them over there the other week and she literally spent about five total minutes talking to the kids. She talked to me about nonsensical bullshit (like how she was going to see a medium the next day, blah blah blah), played on her tablet and talked on the phone with one of her friends 90% of the time. What did the kids do? Well, our daughter sat on the couch (right next to her grandmother by the way) and played on her phone the whole time because she was bored to death. Our son got bored very quickly and started drawing by himself. Their grandma literally ignores them the whole time, yet she complains about how she never sees them enough...even though Jen takes the kids over there twice a week (but that's a whole 'nother can of worms).
So, what will the kids be doing all day today? NOT going outside. NOT playing with their friends. NOT having fun. NOT doing what they WANT to be doing, no. Instead, they will be sitting at their grandmother's being bored to tears all day long. And, they know it. How do I know it? Oh, I'll tell you...
Daughter: What time are we going to Grandma's?
Me: We're leaving a little before 9:30 (I'm taking them over there before I go into work).
Daughter: What time are you picking us up?
Me: I'm not.
Daughter: Then, how are we getting home?
Me: You're not coming home.
Daughter: WHAT?!?!
Me: You'll be there all day.
Daughter: SIIIIGH, ALL day?
Me: Yup, ALL day.
And, with that, she quietly waltzed into her bedroom and flopped onto her bed, defeated and lifeless. You could literally SEE the joy and life exit her body, like when you tell a kid there's no such thing as Santa Claus, HAHAHA.
Poor kids.
