Cellulite!

I’m currently doing 40 mins walking in a morning, 30 at lunch and I alternate between yoga, strength training and weights through the week 5-6 times a week
I’ve cut out caffiene and alcohol and drink a minimum of 2 litres of water a day.

Should my cellulite reduce?

I’m aware that I’ll lose weight, but will it also reduce my cellulite??

Any other tips on getting rid of it would be great too!

Thanks :bigear:

that should make a huge improvement! body brushing helps as well i find but sometimes i feel a bit silly brushing my legs!

Weight loss will promote some cellulite loss as well however, cellulite is largely determined by genetics. Even the leanest of the lean may still be plagued by it. Just get in the best shape you possibly can, eat a clean diet and exercise regularly and whatever you do, don't buy into the creams, lotions and potions. :waving:

Thanks for all the advice. Sounds like im doing all i can anyway. I did buy a breakfast seed sprinkle last week. Its a mix of about 8 different seeds, nice on weetabix :)

Follow the science my friend.

Well cellulite is just fat under the skin where you can see the dimples of the fat (that is why even super models can have it) so by reducing your fat, you will also reduce the appearance of cellulite. I know they have creams and stuff, but as your weight loss progresses you should definitely see a change.

Its not FAIR!

I have been increasing my workouts, I use a HRM and this time last year my heart rate never went above 155. Now it averages at that or more, highest point at 188 and I work out for 9-12 hours a week of hard cardio, that does not include weights or stretching or cooling down.

I have not lost any weight, I have gotten larger around the hips and thighs which I would like to imagine is mucle seeing as I can do much much more then I used to (bike was at level 6 for 15 mins, now I go for 30 mins on various levels from 10-15 and do interval training)

I have though noticed a massive increase in my cellulite. What used to be 'just' along the backs of my thighs is now along the front of my thighs, my bottom, by calves....I get scared to look in the mirror and see where else it has gone!

I don't drink coffee, get through about 5 liters of plain water a day (I exercise in a gym with heavy air con) and eat more then my 5-a-day of fresh fruit and steamed veg. I calorie count everything, avoid saturated fats wherever possible and never go beyond 1600-2000 calories even after a heavy 2.5 hour cardio session at the gym. I make sure I get enough protein and do not eat any refined carbs, added sugars, I am thinking of cutting out all dairy (I eat a non fat natural/plain yogurt with an apple after the gym and drink skimmed milk in my tea in the morning).

I also use the powerplate in addition to my stretching to hopefully increase circulation, I have been doing that for about 3 months now but no difference in anything yet.

I have no idea whats going on! I have also expanded out of trousers which now means I have gone up just over a dress size in a year despite the increase in what I do now in the gym.

What am I doing wrong? I thought exercise was supposed to prevent cellulite!

hmm, honestly? I think there is user error here. You say you are doing all this but the evidence says something is off. If you are really doing everything then maybe you need to see a doctor for possible medical problems?

When I mean user error, I mean that you might think you are eating 1600-2000 calories a day (which might be too much as is), you are likely eating more than that based on the results.

So its true that cellulite cannot be easily removed by thorough exercise huh?! then what can be the fastest way to eliminate it?

You can't eliminate cellulite. Sorry. Cellulite is not fat .. it's an appearance caused by adhesions of skin and connective tissue between the fat ... and it just is. Cellulite is mostly genetic and if you have it, you pretty much have it. You can minimize it's appearance by losing fat and tightening the skin, but it's not something you can eliminate entirely w/out surgery (and even then, that's only partially successful).

Exercise does not "prevent" cellulite. Creams don't prevent cellulite. The only thing that "prevents" cellulite is losing fat so that the connective tissue doesn't stretch and dimple.

i can see a real difference when i drink lots of water, it really helps.
There are some creams and stuff that can help as well, for example I've been using this mud treatment called "fanghi di guam." There was a visible difference after I used it a couple of times.:hurray:

In my opinion cellulite does reduce through exercise - might not disappear completely, but mine has improved loads since starting to exercise and healthy eat.
