Casey's Diary, Part Deux!

Bleghh....feeling like crapppppp....
Tired, bloated, and cramped from starting my period. The run after work probably isn't gonna happen. If I make it through the day without eating a pint of ice cream I will be doing great things.

Feeling better this evening. The bowels are a little too unstable to go running, anyway. Sorry if that grossed anyone out. I've got a bizarre pain in my back that's really worrying me. It's in my lower back, on the left side. It's just throbbing with pain and tender to the touch. It popped really hard in class today and I'm afraid it's messed up. It could have to do with my time on the treadmill last night. Hopefully I'll wake up tomorrow and it will be better.

Menu so far today:

Breakfast:
2 whole wheat eggos
1 cup choc. soymilk

Snacks:
1 serving apple slices
1.5 servings wheat thins
1 serving mixed nuts

Lunch:
1 6 in tuna sald sub on wheat
1 bag baked chips

Dinner:
1 serving mixed veggies
1 serving brown rice
1 serving wheat thins

I'll probably eat more before I go to bed. I'm gonna try to give myself a break this week. As long as I get my miles in (20! yipes) and don't eat a pint of ice cream everyday, I'll be happy.

Oh, and being without the scale and tape measure is really helping my psyche. I feel like the pressure's off and it's helping me eat healthier.

I didn't end up eating anything else yesterday, which was good. I got so upset last night...I guess it's me just being on my period...I started crying for no reason and couldn't stop. My eyes and nose are burning today. I think today will be a better day though...Monday and Tuesday are always the toughest when it's that time of the month.

So far, I've had a breakfast of whole wheat Eggos with chocolate soy milk. I packed a pb sandwich on whole wheat, wheat thins, mixed nuts, apple slices, and a banana for lunch. Dinner is up in the air. Maybe Subway, maybe crab cakes and veggies. Gotta run, but I'm not sure if I'll do 4 miles or 7 miles. It just depends on how I feel. I will go with the 7, most likely.

The funky eating the past few days could be messing with your digestion. I know when I've been really good with healthy eating for a while and I throw too much grease or dairy in the mix and it just causes me trouble. I had to get rid of my scale recently. It's a digital and my sister kept dropping her damp washcloths on top of it instead of into the laundry basket. My BF got one of his own but since he's mostly gone during the week I can only weigh myself on the weekends while I'm at his place.

I'm trying to psych myself up to start jogging on my mothers treadmill a few nights a week so maybe by the spring I'll be able to run the track by my house.
I hope your back is doing better.

I'm doing better today, just a little sleepy because I stayed up late watching a movie last night with the BF.

Emily- you're probably right. The longer I eat healthy, the less junk it takes to throw off my digestive system. Let me know how the jogging goes---I personally think running on a track or road is much easier.

Thanks for the encouragement Kelly!

So I'm mixing up my workout plan again. I had started a new half-marathon schedule, but I think it was a little too grueling for me. Some weeks had over 30 miles of running. I designed my own little plan incorporating Tae-Bo, the fitness center, and running, and at the end of February I'm going to start training for a half-marathon in April. I'm going to use the same schedule I did as last time because it worked great for me. I'm hoping this will alleviate some stress I've been putting on myself.

Eating was rather crappy today. Gave in to cravings and had a candy bar and some Pizza Hut breadsticks for supper. No exercise, either...I had a long meeting after I got off work and I'm running on 3 hours of sleep. I feel great about the new plan I've made, though, and I'm hitting the ground running tomorrow. No pun intended!

I look forward to reading all about your running!

You make me motivated to keep trying! I think all your running is amazing! :D

Good Morning Casey!:waving:

Hope you got more sleep last night then you did the night before, but I'm sure time with the BF is worth some lost sleep once in a while. Stress and pizza can't be good for you much longer so I'm glad you've made a plan for yourself. A half marathon is a great goal to keep you focused. Have a great day!

Last night....bowl of chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream....YUMMY!
Today....doughnuts in the office but thankfully they're hidden in the back. I am DETERMINED not to eat one. I've had breakfast, and I have a healthy lunch packed, so there's just no need for it. I have a banana right beside me to eat, anyway.

Hoping to run four miles on the treadmill tonight.

Doughnuts are hard to resist. My favorite are the chocolate frosted. You can do it though. Just keep your banana close and keep in mind how sluggish the crappy food makes you.

Of course half of the doughnuts have the chocolate frosting, since that's my favorite too. I've got a banana and a tall cup of black coffee. I don't even want the greasy, sugary things, to be honest with you.

Good girl. I've got an orange and a chai so I'm right there with you on the no sugary, greasy stuff. Though I'm totally not with you on the black coffee. :ack2: I need some cream and sugar in my coffee. Of course it has to be decaf as well. I'm a little frou frou when it comes to coffee drinks. Cinnamon Dolce, Gingerbread Latte.... I love me some Starbucks.

Forget those doughnuts Casey! You don't need them! You're on your way to be a helthier and better person, don't let some greasy stuff get in your way.
You're stronger than them!

Have a great day :D
India

Did you get that out of your system? (Doughnuts, etc)

I too will be reading about your training schedule.

What date is your half marathon? My 10k is April 27.

I enjoy soy lattes. I'm so used to black coffee those taste creamy and sweet without any added flavors. Today I've got a peanut butter sandwich on wheat, 1/4 cup mixed nuts, some Wheat thins, and a bunch of apple slices for lunch. I plan on eating a crab cake with lots of veggies and some brown rice for dinner. I might eat something else before bed too, it just depends on how I feel after my workout. I've been feeling positive about my body lately, which is great! Usually during my period I'm really bloated and I hate how I look. This month, I'm still carrying water-weight but I'm not letting it affect how I feel about myself. Getting rid of my scale and measuring tape has helped a lot, and so has the support from my friends, family, boyfriend, and the WLF. I would like to lose five or ten pounds but I think it's important to appreciate myself like I am before I do that.
