cardio before weight training?

i have an internship now that's right after my weight training appointment with my trainer. before, i would do strength training for 1/2 an hour and then follow it with an hour of cardio. now that my schedule is different, i was wondering if it'd be okay if i did cardio before weight training? i've read that your'e supposed to go from high intensity to low intensity, but my schedule is tight... so i was wondering if it'd be harmful at all if i changed things up by moving my cardio earlier. thanks for any help!

It wont hurt you to do cardio before weight training. Typically it is suggested to do weight training first due to the capacity to train harder. If you are tired from cardio it is much more difficult to weight train to your full capacity and you will not receive the full benefit from it. Granted if your schedule prohibits you from doing weight training before, weight training after is still 100 times better than no weight training at all.

WEll ya learn something new every day. I always do cardio before weights. I didn't know I wasn't supposed to. I actually like it that way, but I'm wondering, if you're there early enough to do cardio before weights, why not just do the weights first?

I used to do cardio before weights as well but when I switched over I noticed I had a lot lot more energy to do weights and a ton less energy to do cardio. In fact, cardio was so hard to do afterwards that I had to separate my days into cardio and weight lifting days.

How much ealier?

Either way its fine. If searching for the "optimal" then generally speaking weights first then cardio later. As well, as previously mentioned by the poster above. Separating weights and cardio on different days is fine as well. However, the calories expended each single day will be lower. Though, by doing this you can exert yourself harder/longer on that given day which may help off set the subtraction.
Just don't forget to give your body proper rest.

thanks for your help, guys! i was going to do the cardio just before the weight training, with a small break in between. and the reason i can't switch the weight training earlier is because i have set appointments with a very busy trainer.

i really like the idea of doing cardio both before and after. i think i'm going to try that out and see how i feel. thanks for the idea, wishes :)
