Sport Carbonation, can it cause weight gain?

Sport Fitness
I've always wondered if carbonated drinks can cause some type of weight problems or mess up your metabolism or something... I haven't drank anything carbonated in a long time but I love the bubbles....The carbonated water drinks or diet soda all look so tempting and I won't touch regular soda, but if they'll ruin something for me and cause weight gain or something then I don't want to touch them.

I know they're bad to drink a lot or before you work out, but what about on weekends or something? That is if they're ok...Thanks in advance.

The sugar substitutes can cause some problems, but the carbonation is just carbon dioxide/carbonic acid. I drink diet soda all the time, never hurt me.

The carbon won't harm you - it's carefully regulated within the body..

fizzy drinks are not a good thing to be consuming though
