Hi my name is Tiffany and I am looking for advise in losing weight. I am 5’6 and 160lbs. I never weighed this much in my entire life. I had surgery a few years ago and I put on about 40 lbs. I have tried to work out and lose the weight, but I am not losing any weight. I do the elliptical machine for about 40-60 minutes a day. I do not use the treadmill or run at all I find it very boring and I cant keep my self going. If running is the key to lose weight I am willing to work at trying to run though. I do about 100 sit-ups a day. Should I increase the amount I am doing? Now on to my eating habits. I do eat healthy sometimes i like vegetables and fruit. However I do sometimes stop at fast food restaurants when I am in a rush or I am traveling. Which i do know i need to try and stop that. The job I have has me sitting at a desk about 6 hours of the day so I am not very active at work. If someone could please help me and give me advise I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks you!

Welcome to the forum!

You are in a bit of luck. Running is not the key to weight loss. The bad side is the key is your diet. We are in the same boat as far as jobs and such. What you are going to need to do is reduce your calorie intake. That doesn't mean fast food is out of the question. If you go to a specific place, see about looking up their calories online. Information will help you make the right choices.

And I'm sure Kara will be here any moment now for her usual great help :)

Hi, im new to the forum. I know you said that you should count calories (which I don't do) but I have started eating better (gave up the diet pepsi, chocolate, cookies etc). So far since Dec. I lost 9lbs, but the last 2 weeks I have not lost anything. I do go to the gym every morning for 40 minutes doing mostly cardio.(5 days Mon-Fri, and walk 5km on Sun), I know im working my body as I keep my heart rate up through the whole workout.

Am I just over reacting and expecting to much to soon? I am getting married the end of the year and want to lose at least another 37lbs (more would be better).

Thanks
Shawna

Is 40 minutes

Well anytime you are not going up is a good thing. Chances are you are just eating enough to maintain and you need to reduce your calorie intake.
