Can someone be allergic to sweat?

Just wondering because a lot of the time after working out I get itchy in some places where I sweat the most (back, neck, inside of elbows) sometimes I get bumps in those places too but they usually go away a little while after my shower. I've always had problem skin. It doesn't really bother me much unless it keeps me awake at night, it is pretty annoying though.

You probably have what I have. I get the same feelings. Just wash the area where it itches alot (my doctor recomended washing it with selsun blue even though that is a conditioner). Its like a rash or skin disiese. Non transferable and not harmful to your body so dont worry.

And no you can't be allergic to sweat unless ur alergic to water, salt and everything else excreated from your body in sweat.

yeah it might also be worse now because of the cold and dry weather we've been having over here. I need to move where there's some humidity! Have you ever tried the selsun blue? If you have did it make any difference?

Yes the dry air can cause undue itching and that may be your only problem.

It's also very possible that sometime through life you have encountered a fungus that grows on your skin similar to athletes foot fungus. These can grow just about anywhere on you, usually in an area where sweat builds. It's not really from the sweat more the heat and general moisture makes it a good place for the fungus to grow.

Wash after exercise everytime, pat dry with a towel make sure you are nice and dry before dressing and it should help. If not go see a doctor and they may prescribe you an antifungal wash, Selsun is a dandruff wash so it will be similar, Nizoral as well. Unfortunately if it is a fungus it is controllable but never completely cured. Always best to see a dermatologist if you can though just to make sure.

Damn, old thread that I missed. Yes you can become allergic to sweat, I saw a programme about a woman who was allergic to her own sweat which prevented her from exercising or walking too fast (I imagine sex would be pretty difficult too)

Odds of that being your problem though are very low and you're best off seeing a doctor

I use to think the same thing because I had itchy skin wherever I sweated. Turns out it was exczema, a condition that causes itchyness due to dry skin.
