Ive heard it all over the site and im new to this hole thing, but what is resistance training .........

From a stickie on my forum:

Resistance training is simply the act of exerting force by way of muscular contraction against a given load. Resistance training is often called strength training or weight training as well. This load can come externally using equipment such as barbells, dumbbells, kettlebells, bands, medicine balls, etc. Internal resistance is applied using your own bodyweight. When applied appropriately, resistance training generates positive adaptations/responses in the body. The adaptations we’re most interested in are primarily associated with muscle and neural qualities. These qualities include but are not limited to increased strength, muscular endurance and muscle mass.

Makes about as much sense to me as a soup sandwich... thanks anyway....
whats an example of a work out like this

external resistance like lifting weights plain and simple. internal resistance like pushups or squats (ei. you are lifting your own body therefore using your own body as resistance...)

I'm not sure what you don't understand about this. Resistance training = lifting weights.

That weight can come from barbells, dumbbells, sand bags, your own body weight... whatever.

It's simply the act of using your muscles to generate force against weight.

I have no idea how to answer that question. Like what?
