Calories in a day

OK, i started to jump start my life again to a healthy lifestyle, and for the past 2 weeks i have had this as a main sorce of food

8-8:30am 1 oatmeal maple and brown sugar 160cals
11-11:30 1 banana or apple, or a light yogart not sure on cals
2-2:30pm 1 small can of tunafish w/o mayo, just the plain tuna 70-90cals
4-5pm 1 banana or apple, or a light yogart not sure on cals
7-8pm 1/4 of a skinless boneless turkey or chicken breast
small salad
half can of corn
and a half can of pears.
now of coarse the dinner meal changes between a turkey sandwich w/ mustard, pickles, on wheat. And some times i have baby carrots
im just curious to know if this sounds liek im consuming enough for a good diet. Through out the day my stomach feels alittle wierd, like im hungry, but im trying to spead up my metabolsim by eating 4-5 times a day in small portions. I am about 290lbs 5'11" and 22 years of age please give me some advice as to what i shoudl do, or if im doing the right thing.

one big thing is you should be having a good source of protein in each meal and i dont see many fats in there. :(

Naz...

In 10 months I've lost 80 pounds. I started out at 397! Here's what I did.

1. Joined a gym with treadmills, eliptical (took a while to be able to use those :)), and stair machines.

2. Went EVERY DAY. I've missed less than 10 days in 10 months.

3. Started at 30 minutes a day and am up to 75 minutes of cardio a day.

4. After 3 months I started weights every other day.

5. Adjusted my diet to never consume more than 1800 calories a day. I found that by restricting the cals, you force yourself to eat better because the junk has high calories and it sure sucks to be at your 1800 by 11 am! :)

When you start to see the weight drop you start feeling GUILTY if you eat anyhting that you know is bad for you. You also stat to feel guilty if you miss a day because you just don't feel like going.

Now. This last point might sound a little strange since I am a straight male, but find examples of body styles you ultimately want. For me? I want a body somewhere between Brad Pitt circa Fight Club and Vin Diesel in anything :)

I have a large bone frame so I'd likely have to settle for Vin Diesel. But that'd be ok :)

wow mike not bad... how do u know ur reducing weight because i can never feel it.... my stomach does reduce but then i also grow muscle so my weight increases

How to guage

I weighed myself just once a week and took body measurements. After about a month, clothing was noticably looser and within two months it was visually noticable in the mirror.

I have lost 8 inches in my waist and 3 inches around my thighs. I've actually not lost any size in my biceps because I've gained alot of muscle. My forearms also also the same, but visably more cut and defined as you can see underlying muscle now.

Keep a log! Sometimes the measurements are the only way to see the smaller losses that occur over several weeks.

Good luck!
