Calories Calculation

Howdy,

I'm just trying to work out some things on calory intake etc and I'm a little stuck on this

I've been reading up and it seems the average way to work out your bodies calorie use per day is Pounds*11, and if you don't do much activity during the day *1.3

This would give me about 4876 a day?

And target weight of 210, would give about 3003?

So if I wanted to lose 1lb a day, I'd take the average of the two 3940ish, and that's what I'd be needing to use to support my body during the weight loss.

So a pound of fat takes about 3500 calories to burn, so if I was eating say 1500 calories a day, 3500+1500 = 5000 - 3940 = 1060 calories needed to be burnt through excercise for a 1lb loss?

Just looking for some confirmation if that's worked out right or what

Thanks Steve :patriot:

the best answer i can give -is it depends...

11 calories per lb might work for some
8 calories per lb might be more appropriate for others.

Depends on where your body is at the time.

12 - 13 calories per lb, with slightly more than moderate amounts of exercise is pretty much my maintenance level... 10 -11 calories per lb is where i can generally lose weight with the same slightly more than moderate amounts of exercise. (I'm a middle aged female)

You really have to see how your body responds and adapts -and change it up as you go.
