calorie help

I used the formula below and it said that I need almost 3000 calories a day. I am 5'5'', 111lb, 16 yrs. old and run 7-8 miles (about 60 min.) a day. I generally eat 2200-2400 calories a day and my weight has stabilized. Should I increase my calories or will that just result in a weight gain? Is this calculator off or what? Thanks so much!!!
For women: (10*w) + (6.25*h) - (5*a) - 161

w = weight in kg
h = height in cm
a = age

For us non-metric folk,
1kg = 2.2lb
1ft = 30.48cm (1inch = 2.54 cm)

The we are going to take into consideration your activity level.. Once you determine which you fall under, multiply your BMR by your activity level. (You can also use number in between these if you feel you don't exactly fall into one category, ie 1.35)

1.2 (Bed Ridden)
1.3 (Sedentary)
1.4 (Activle)
1.5 (VERY Avtive)

Althought it does seem pretty high for your size and weight, you're running a LOT. Your body should be able to use those calories pretty quickly on those kind of runs.

Keep in mind, those calculators and formulas are ESTIMATES of what your calorie intake should be.

Hmm these calculators (don't) work the other way for me, i don't believe them because they tell me to eat as little as 1200-1500 calories

I eat around 2000 daily and am a very slim girl, i'm not really that active either, i usually study for most of the day

The calculators are estimates, and while accurate enough for most of the population, they will not be for everyone. I believe, someone correct me if I'm wrong, most of the calculators are designed to calculate the estimated caloric needs of healthy adults, and are not necessarily intended for teens and children.

Given that these are estimates, would you say that 2900 is a good estimate and so I should increase my calories or stay with around 2200 since I seem to maintain my weight at this. Is it possible that I would maintain at a higher calorie intake too? I guess what I am saying is I know they are only estimates, but does the estimate seem legitimate? Thanks so much!

I have been eating 2000-2400 (usually about 2200) for a few months. Before that I was eating 1600-2000 to lose weight, but now I just want to keep my weight the same. I know that my weight will stay the same with what I am eating, but wanted to know if increasing would give me more energy and help me recover faster or just make me gain weight. Thanks!

I multiplied by 1.5 since I figured an hour or more working out a day was highly active. This gave me a calculation of about 3000. I think I will try to get between 2400-2600 for a while and see how that goes.

1.5 is if your psysically active all day, say your in the army and march/build stuff/work out all day long. An hour of running(if thats all you do) might put you on 1.35 or so.
