Caloric calculators

Hi everyone just joined the other day and I've been trying to figure out how many calories I need a day and I am having a tough time getting an answer that makes sense.

I just did a google search for calorie counter's and this one came up

I input everything it asked. I am 23 years old, 5'8 (69inches) 260 pounds

I'd like to lose 60 pounds to start.

After inputting everything it is saying that if I was to eat 3200~ calrioes a day I would maintain my weight assuming I am not doing much physical activity.

around 2700~ if I want to lose weight while still doing little to no activity.

I have a free iphone app called myfitnesspal that is suggesting with the very same numbers that I should be consuming around 1900 calories a day.

so I am kind of counfused, I am getting different answers. What would I need to do to get an accurate number to look towards.

Geez, man..... what do you do when you get ANY sort of conflicting infomation???? Hmmmm..... ?????
You keep looking for other sources and take the best 2/3 or 4/5 or whatever.
Get an average, or better yet, go with the median number that you find. (look up median if you don't know what that is, sort of like an average, but not quite)
Elementary, my dear Watson!
I know there's way more than just one calorie calculator on the net.
....
From my own experience, you should probably be looking at around 2500 cals.
I also sincerely hope that you're not just going to try to lose weight while "doing little to no activity."
Get up, MOVE>.. do some exercise!!!! burn calories!!!! you can do it!!!!

I am just trying to learn about health in general. I realize I could find ammedian between the different calorie answers I am getting, I was just not expecting the variation in the answer these calculators produce.

I will be doing activities of course:) I am looking to get a spin bike soon(winter here half the year and I rather not go to the gym in the winter). I want to get some weights and a bench in the near future as well.

I'll never be 260 again and I hope I can learn more browsing the forums.

Well. you only looked at two! Maybe one is just wrong. From the online ones I've seen they're usually within 200 cals. of each other.

I have just started dieting and exercising and I checked several calculators as well. What I wound up doing is I used the calculators numbers as a guide or starting point. I ate according to what it said, but I payed close attention to how hungry/full I felt. Then I would add/subtract calories a little here and there until I felt that I knew how many calories my body uses each day. I'm still working on figuring it out, but I'm guessing that no calculator is going to be perfect for my body. So, I'm fine tuning the numbers according to how my body responds.
