Caiman's weight loss journey

Thanks, very pleased with myself indeed.

Thought I'd illustrate this thread a bit and upload some pictures. Though I intended to, I didn't take any photographs of myself at the start of this journey, but I did just get back from a trip to the Czech Republic at the start of October so these pictures are pretty representive of how I looked when I started.

Below is a picture I've taken tonight when I got in from work. I don't think there's any noticable difference but just wanted to put these up to give an idea of where I'm at now, and hopefully this time next year I can compare these to where I am then!

WELL DONE CAIMAN!!!

Are you kidding? There's a huge difference, you're looking great dude, congratulations so far

Keep up the great work!

Yep I agree with the others. There is a definite difference. Well done.
The food cravings seem to get much better after a while so you don't need so much willpower. Try and give yourself a little bit of what you want before the cravings get so strong that you end up pigging out.

Heh thanks peeps, I suppose on second glance I can see a little difference, and I certainly feel the difference in general and with shirts being a little looser around the chest and trousers around the waist etc- didn't really expect there to be a noticable change until 35-40lbs but eh, not like I have previous experience of this weight loss malarky :p

Feeling better on the cravings front this week so far, hopefully it stays that way!

Going to try and get to the gym tomorrow and sunday, this week has probably seen the least 'exercise' since I started, for various reasons I've only walked to and from work twice this week, and have had a few little naughty moments while out doing some christmas shopping (avoiding a hot pork baguette or bratwurst on the christmas markets is close to impossible!). I still feel I'm on track to show a loss this week but really need to kick myself into gear now and step things up so I don't lose momentum.

I think last week was my worst week since I started, and I'm determined to correct course this week. Due to various [excuses] I've not had much time this week to prepare my soups and so had a sandwich for lunch most days at work, I also feel I've slacked a little with my evening meals which if I'm being honest, have all along been a little 'too good to be true' if I want to lose a couple of pounds a week- it's not all bad; I still have a small loss this week, but want to avoid slipping into lazy/excuse mode. I hate winter :(

I thought as the month of November is now behind us, I would have a go on the scales again this morning just so I can see where I'm at on a calendar month basis too.

On 1st of November I weighed in at 310lbs, this morning I was at 297lbs- just under a stone (13lbs) lost in the month of November wo0t. Very pleased with that. I am hoping I can hit 290 now by New Year's Day.

Cheers! So this week, as with the rest of the UK we've been pretty snowed under and as much as it's an 'excuse'- I've again not managed to get to the gym as a consequence. Conversely I feel much better about what I've eaten this week and am quietly confident I should see a better loss come Monday than I had last week. We'll see, there's still the weekend to contend with!

That is phenomenal that you can keep on track so well, it seems that you've got real motivation! Good job! I think you can definitely reach your new years goal if you keep at it. :)

Thanks Fae, I'm quietly confident, indeed...

Okay so my aim for last week was to drink absolutely no carbonated drinks and once again adjust portion sizes for my main meals. I want to find the right balance to steadily lose 2-3lbs per week, but I'm starting the realise that will mean constant adjustments as the weight falls off, and I can't just settle on a single solution to see me all the way down. It's been a successful week though, and I've dropped a further 3lbs since last Monday.

I am STILL slacking on the execise front, and really need to give myself a good kick up the arse, but once again my 'excuse' has been the ridiculous cold weather... but if it doesn't stop me walking to and from work it shouldn't be stopping me hopping on a bus into the city centre to go to the gym...

Hey there dude, just like to shout out, i see that you drink lots of diet fizzy drinks. They may have no sugar but they are full of e-numbers and also caffeine, try water instead and if u cant handle that yet, try flavoured water, then move on to water.

Also, when you do exersice, do it intensive, so that your heart is really pumping fast, maybe at a heart rate of 170, this will make sure you burn of those calories, me i don't want to boast about it but i lost 30 pounds in about a month, and this is from me eating me how i want to (junk food :( ) but still get the pounds down because of intensive exercise.

Peace!

Nice....the members of the forum seem to be quite helpful. Thanks for sharing the diet info. Others will definitely get benefit from it.

Hey Arsenal,

To be honest, I want my weight loss to be steady at around 1% of my weight per week so I'm happy with 2-3lbs a week and indeed am varying my diet each week in trying to find the best way to maintan that.

The diet/fizzy drinks is an issue I've been fighting with since I started, indeed- last week I managed to go all week without any, so we'll see how this week goes- ultimately though it was the one thing out of everything else I gave up that I needed some time to ween myself off, heh.

@ seoalexray, thanks- I'm sure my method is by no means 'perfect' but it goes to show that you can still see positive results while enjoying relatively 'normal' meals each day and that drastic gimmicks aren't necessary.

The cold weather does something intense to the brain...
my gym is only five minutes from my house, but this morning I was like, "Ugh. So, I have to wear boots outside, put my gym shoes in a BAG, and then change at the gym? It's not even worth it."

I'm still going today. But I definitely had the thought!

Owwww I burnt all my finger tips last night taking a tray out of the oven. Silly me. Well, it's still pretty nippy outside but all the snow and ice has pretty much melted away- my flat mate has been getting to the gym about three times a week this last month so I need to jump on his bandwagon- he isn't currently working though which makes it a bit easier. Must say after work it's difficult to find the motivation to go slog it out for another hour at the gym- perhaps I should give the idea of going before work a whirl.
