Ok so I had my c section in on November 4th 2006 and since then I had another pregnancy (had a vbac whoohoo!!!) and I am now on a weightlose journey and I am trying to find out what exercise I can do to get rid of that c section pouch. Every single time I see that damn pouch I feel so angry and sad because had I had a better DR I could have had the natural delivery I wanted. To get back to the subject, for those of you who have successfully lost that pouch what exercise and at what frenquency did you do them.

Wow I am kind of getting nervous many have read but no one had answer.
I was told only a tummy tuck would work but I refuse to beleive that only sergery is the answer there has got to be someone out there with an answer.

Random question, if you even post here still, but how did you find having a VBAC after having a C Section? Which is the best? :p

I would have to say that giving birth naturally was much easyer! I was in the hospital 24hrs only so that was a big plus, and the recovery was so much faster, No swelling, I could hold my baby and walk at the same time, I fell right back into my regular routine from the min I got home (I still had to take it easy and rest) I have a lot of people ask me my opigion I would really advise annyone to go for the vbac. You have to find a DR or midwife that will support you, and I suggest as long as baby and mommy are healthy try to do most of your labour at home since in the hospital they tend to make you lie on a bed, my contraction became regular at 1am 5 min apart for a min or longer and I waited until 6:30 am to wake my husband told him get ready take your shower we left home at 7 am for the 1 hour drive to the hospital and I was 5 cm already and 100% effaced about 4.5 hours later I was the first to hold my baby boy. When I had my daughter via a c section so many people got to hold her before me she was already 3hrs old and that made me so angry. I say if your health and the babies are ok then go for a vbac, I suggest it to be done with no drugs to but that mostly a personal choice!

Congrats on your VBAC. I hope I have one with my second child. We plan on getting pregnant when he turns 2. Will see.

As for the pouch, I have it but it is fading away. C-section was on Dec 5, 2008.. It was horrible. Secret? LOSE WEIGHT. LOSE FAT. I have realized that the more I lost the better my tummy looked.

Ahh, and sit ups.. are very good.
Good luck!

Thank you!!!!!

Good luck with your VBAC......Don't let health care systeme discourage you or scaring you into a repeat c section, cause they try!

I feel a little guilty posting here because I am not a new mom, but I want to also stress the point of having a VBAC instead of another C-section. I had a c-section with my first son in 2000 and have successfully had three VBAC's since then. It was increasingly hard each time to find someone who was willing to do one though.

As for the pouch, even when I was at my lightest and a normal healthy weight for my height the pouch was still there. I really don't think it is ever going to go away. Essentially, what makes it form in the first place is the layer of scar tissue that builds up around the incision area. It can be minimized when the weight is lost from the belly area, but I doubt it will ever go away completely.

Honestly, before I had kids, I had a little bit of a pouch, and I was a workout pro, but I looked hot. When I get this weight down, and get toned, I'm gonna wear my C-section pouch with honor, cause nobody can be as proud of my body as I will be. It's okay with me really. If I can make it disappear, great, and if I can't, hey babies came out of there and I'm still sexy, weight on or off, but definitely working on bringing sexy back to the beach, lean and fit, just because I love the way it feels. Good Luck Hon, and everyone. I'm on my way, and so are you!

Im not sure, though i work with a skinny minny who had two c sections and well she has no pouch thats visible, i had a c section 3 years ago, and personally id do it again because my healing wasnt that bad i was walking around the hospital with him and it wasnt too trying, but thats not the point im still looking for ideas for exercising that area as well because it looks like a flat tire, goood luck!

Im new here but also had the same issues. My OB recommend me to wear a postnatal compression garment to help with the recovery and muscle recovery, especially after c-sections. I'm not sure how long ago you had the baby but you still can benefit from a compression garment. You can google Wink belly bands and see the ones that they have. That's the line that my OB recommended and I was really happy with it.

Otherwise doing core exercises are a must as this will help work with your inner tummy muscles to recover.

Okay, so I'm not a NEW mom... (my little one is almost 7!) but I wanted to comment! I had a C-section and once I got the go to exercise from my Dr- I worked my butt off! I was in the best shape of my life two years after having him...but...pooch was still there! :( I have a girlfriend who lost her pooch pretty quickly, but she also only gained 17lbs. during pregnancy. I, on the other hand...gained over 100lbs. Oops? :( Anyway, what I'm saying is- sometimes it wont go away! Mine was just excess skin. (I had rock hard abs but a loose flab of skin swingin away on top of it.)

I let myself go for a while and now I am back on track to getting to the weight I was a few years ago. This time around though, Im lettin the pooch hang out the second I look decent in a bikini. Im over stressing about it! ;)

Hi girl!

I also had a C-section with my son who is 3 years old now, and there is a little
narrower bump over the C-section scar...I don't know if you mean that?

It is kind of harder than the rest of the belly

It could also be that you need to strengthen your inner abs,cuz when you get pregnant, they gets really stretched out and you need to tight them up

the best exercises for the inner abs are "the plank" and "vaccum belly training" you can do them every day in 2-3 set per exercises and hold as long as you can when you performing those exercises

good luck!

Thank you for all the great responses, I read throught all the responses on this thread and another I found later and there are a lot of mix responses on here so I guess it depends on a lot. You skin type and how much you gained and stuff so since I wrote this I lost around 10lb and I find that the "mother's apron" is reducing, I get that the scar will always be there te DR cut me open ( I still have a lot of anger toward the fact that I had a scection and had the DR not induced me after I was a week late I beleive I would not have needed one, but I have to move past this it's done nothing will change this) My scar is very thin and well healed and since the loose skin is slowwwwly dismininshing I am hopefull that it will go away if not completly almost, I will keep updating on here to keep others looking for answers informed. I am doing a lot of core exercise and at this poing I am optimistic.

I'm sure she'll be over the moon with me discussing this! (I won't tell if you dont!)

My wife lost 12lbs or so when we were trying for our first child, and she was born via a cesarean. As the other poster suggested, she concentrated on looking after the baby for the first year, then after she finished breast feeding, went back to exercising and losing weight, but still had a bit of a saggy tum. Didn't bother me, but she wasn't happy.

Another year went by, and we decided to try for our second child, lo and behold another girl and another cesarean! She finished breast feeding last October, and has been trying to lose her saggy tum since, but so far nothing is working. As a stay at home Mum, taking the eldest to school and looking after the house doesn't leave much time for extra exercise. (She walks 2 miles a day from car to school / school to car twice a day)

To give you an idea of just HOW PREGNANT she gets see the attached pic! And no, they are not guy ropes - just an unfortunately located photo!

She won't have surgery, for which I am glad - having lost two healthy relatives to 'minor' hospital procedures we have justifiable personal reasons to be concerned.

Any help I can pass on from mums (without her knowing I asked!) will be gladly received

I have a pouch as well!! I had my first c-section at the age of 17, it was a emergency c-section since the hospital completely messed up and over drugged me. Which in turn over drugged my daughter, which dropped her heart beat to 30/bpm. Well I lost all of the weight, even the pouch! Well age 20 I was pregnant again with my second daughter. Had another C-section since I was High Risk, actually the second one was WAY easier than the first since I knew what was going to happen. I began walking 8 hours after the c-section (the anesthesiologist nearly fainted when he saw me) and I was released from the hospital 48 hours later.....

Ramble, Ramble, Ramble....

Well Im now 21 and struggling to lose the baby pouch ( +more fat I have put on being a stay at home mom) I fear as well the only way to get rid of the pouch even after losing the weight is tummy tuck as well....

Has anyone ever had one??

Ok so i started the thread and got very mixed answers. I also research online on other site and from what I understand, the Mom apron or pouch can be reduced but never completely goes away after all they did cut the mucles and everything..... How much of it goes away depends on your skin type...and age , how much elasticity (sorry I just can't spell) and how much you gained during and after pregnancy...so there is hope just don't think that your body will go back exactly the way it was before!

Does any one else have that numb feeling around the scar??? Its been over 3 years and the scar is barely visible but that numb feeling is just blluhh lol I just hate when my husband touche the scar it's weird,,,,Does anyone else feel that?

I had a c-section. It's been a year. Still numb. Still itchy. Still sagging in the belly. I'm told that after I lose the weight (and there is lots) it will still be there..... if it is, I'm not going to be miserable the rest of my life over something that's NOT my fault. I will have the surgery required to fix it so that I can be happy with my body. Life is too short. Oh, and Pregnancy sucks.

Hello ladies!

So I have lost almost 20lb since January and I am finding that I have a lot less loose skin the pouch is still there but not hanging as much so I have hope that is will get better! I loved every minute of my pregnancy I was a happy ball of sunshine, and felt so attractive while pregnant, it's after that I felt like crap and that I really noticed the strech marks and the flabby belly it was worst with my c section, but now that I have lost almost 20lb I am confident that I will get better!

That's good news about having less skin after loosing 20 pounds. It gives me hope that my tummy will look better too if I loose some weight. Great going with the weight loss!
