Britney Spears calls out the airbrushing in photos

Nobody forced Britney or Christina to do what they did. Were they influenced into making certain career decisions? Yes. But, they still were never forced to do anything. They wanted to be pop stars and that's exactly what the record companies made them. Like it or not, people in that position are role models...and they know it. Just like actors, actresses, musicians, politicians, etc. They may not enjoy the responsibility of being a role model, but guess what? That's exactly what they are.

Which makes them inhuman, and they can't make mistakes. Right. I forgot.

Btw....who forces people to accept anybody as a role model? Haven't seen anybody with a gun to their head while being told that she has to do exactly what Britney (etc.) do.

Why can't some people accept responsibility right in front of their doorstep instead of blaming somebody else?

Where am I blaming anybody for anything?

No, people don't have to look up to Britney Spears, but...people still do. And, it would be ignorant to act as if she is not a role model, because that's exactly what she is. It's how our society works - people in the public eye are role models, like it or not. Don't believe me? Just take a look around...

The clothes we wear, the foods we eat, the music we listen to, the way we talk, the phones we use, the TVs we watch, the way we style our hair, the activities in which we partake, the places we visit, the cars we drive, the people we hang out with, even our personalities...they are ALL influenced by the people in the public eye, AKA - our role models.

I'm not debating that people don't have to look at people like Britney Spears as role models. What I'm saying is that, whether they like it or not, people in Britney Spears' position are role models.

I have to agree with Chef. Weither its fair or not...facts are facts..and the facts are that people look to Celebs as role models....specifically the young ones. No ones looking at any of the adult celebs and being upset about their influence on children. We're talking about the child celebs.

Look at Miley. I've always loved the fact that she was a good kid. She didnt' cuss, she didn't talk about sex...she SEEMED to live a healthy, moral life...and I let my kids buy lots of her things. Thats changed though. She's recently been on a mission to change her image. have you seen her newest video?? yikes!

They don't get paid their millions of dollars because a few songs are THAT good. They geat paid that much because people buy thier stuff and watch them on TV. Why??? Because they ARE role models.

Guess this could turn into an endless thread, so I won't keep going. I think it's total nonsense, but that's just me. Then again, I don't celebrate mother's day either, so maybe I'm just weird.

*shrugs*

Who cares?

.

Unfortunetly I have to disagree....

Its not just the tiny teenage celebs, it is all of them:

Victoria Beckem, Nicole Riche, Lady Gaga, Angelina Jolie....all well known amoung teenagers who aspire to look just like them and in their (slightly insane) belief that they are invincible will agree to do anything to get their bodies. I don't want to give too much away but trust me, I know this to be true.
