Bride-to-be dies after losing 3st on her crash diet - eating just 530 calories a day

People that have had gastric bypass seem to do ok on 500 cal per day for months and months. I don't get it. The woman who died might have been exercising way too much too. Did the story mention her exercising any?

That's so sad. :(

I know that some people are saying that if she was able to do that, she could have lost weight the healthy way but I think the reason she did what she did was because she was getting married...and decided, "I hate how I look, I want to be pretty for my wedding day". So she had X amount of time to lose a rather large amount of weight. And as we all know, you can't drop 100 pounds in a few months' time by exercising and eating right. It takes time. She didn't have time. So she got desperate.

I'm not saying she was right, I just pity her because I can relate to that frantic, upset, desperate feeling of OMG I HAVE TO LOSE NOW. You realize something big is coming up and you can't stand to be that weight, you have to get it off at any cost because not getting it off would make you miserable. Sometimes I feel that way just because, without any big event coming up. I feel trapped in my body, stuck, and I know I can't fix it fast enough. Makes me anxious. =/

Here's the part I don't understand....

If I was able to lose 70 lbs, in 9 months, eating 2000 cals a day....and then I bumped it up to 2500 cals (adding more excersizing of course), and lost 3 more lbs last week.....

I just don't see why anyone would need to go below 1500 cals a day.... certainly no less than 1200 cals, for a small female.

And here's the real deal..... even if that diet did work, how could one possibly live with that the rest of there life ? ......so in other words, what's it good for in the long term ? Nothing.

I can certainly live (healthy, and lean) with my diet, the rest of my life.

Isn’t this a sad way to go? I think most of us want to leave this planet with some theatrical flair. Ok maybe that’s just me. That sounds like a life wasted. I sure hope not.

I have just seen an advert for Lighter Life on the television and remembered this thread.

I hope that everyone who watched the advert and is concerned about their size reads this and thinks it through before making any big decisions...

I mentioned back near the start of this thread that I used to know a couple who did this diet.

I will always remember the fact that the wife was told by her own doctor that she should not do this because their examination had detected an abnormality in her heart... The Lighter life consultant put her in touch with another doctor who signed the form... Yes, she had medical approval - but she had medical disapproval too...
