Hey all, this is my story
Im a 20 year old Italian dude, college student (information science major), 5'9" and around 220lbs. My father was a bodybuilder at one point and my mother is short, so i am blessed with a short build and broad shoulders. I'm an ex-football player, so i used to be packed with muscle too (along with some fat i just never was able to get rid of). After HS was over, i never found anything to keep me activity up aside from just running and lifting occasionally. So i put on some pounds, nd saw that size 34 turn into a 38. Being Italian, my entire family is overweight and obsessed with food it seems, and i am realizing more and more that this is due to poor dietary choices all around.
Backstory done, fast forward to today. Noone believes i weight over 220. I dont look "heavy" but i've grown a gut and i also dont feel healthy. Most of my muscle is now much softer, and my BMI is probly up to about 23 (not sure of my exact weight or BMI, my family has a scale but it hasnt had batteries for years!). I've slowly gotten to the point where im just disgusted at the "roadmap" i see around me --- you know, the one that leads to being overweight just like my family, and i realized i have to BREAK THE CYCLE. I want to stop this before it starts. All this coupled with MANY family problems = its time for a change.
So here are my goals. My current weight is unknown, but its around 220. I would like to get down to at least 180. I know i will never be "skinny" because im just not built that way. But i know that if i put forth the effort i can be defined, cut, and muscular again. I am looking for a goood "diet" that is also a way of life nutrition. Basically i want to reprogram myself to eat and exercise correctly again, something that is not difficult and NO counting calories. I want to lose weight at a decent pace (3lbs a week), but i want to be able to have full control and be able to settle into nutrition mode at any point. I do not want to diet, but change my life all together.
ANY help is appreciated, and you will be seeing alot more of me around here
More info to come, i apologize for rusing this post but its time for work!
Thanks
mike
