Hey, my name is Joe and I am brand new here. I'm 19 and in my second year of college. I am overweight, not by a whole lot, but enough to make me want to lose some. Maybe more important to me is getting back in shape. I live in Southern California and all my life I was very active, I went to the beach, played sports, I played water polo and swam in high school for four years; then college hit and work, suddenly it felt like I didn't have any time to work out. I started eating fast food because of its convenience, even if I don't especially like it. I guess I just miss being able to swim a a few miles easily or even run a half a mile without getting out of breath. If anyone has any advice, please feel free to let me know what's working for you.

Make yourself a home.

I suggest starting a diary/journal in the appropriate section of the forum. It's good for accountability and meeting people.

I also suggest reading through the stickies found at the tops of the various sub-forums to get an idea of what's good. Especially the "words of wisdom stickie."
