Hi
I'm 31, married mother of 2, 5'6", 190 lbs. I began my new eating habits just last Wednesday and have been learning as much as I possibly can. I was 192 on Wednesday, so 2 lbs are already gone. I'm watching calories and fat intake as well as reducing my complex carb intake. Glad to be here.

I don't know if you got your terms mixed up but you want to limit your intake of simple carbs such as refined flour products (white bread, buns), white rice, added sugars, and added high fructose corn syrup. Complex carbs include whole grains such as bran, oats, whole wheat, brown rice, etc. Complex carbs contain more nutrients and fiber than simple carbs and can be included as a balanced part of your diet, or as a slightly reduced portion if carbs are a "problem food" for you.

Whoops, you're right, I got it mixed up, I'm limiting my refined carbs, definitely white breads which was something I was eating way too much of. Butter and mayo was also something that was a daily staple of mine. I'm learning to use other things to add flavor. It's funny that most people don't realize how bad certain foods are because they are such commonplace but now that I'm reading labels, I'm really shocked.

Hehe... easy mix up :p

I love bread but I did have to give up sliced bread of all sorts whole bread included. Once I go on maintance I can start eating breads again (the complex carbs that is) but as it is I had to give them up :( .

Good Journey to you!
