Boot Camp Questions

Hey all -

Just curious, I've been thinking about joining a boot camp and am not sure what it's really like. Found a pretty good article on dietdiva.com and one on about.com (which has a lot of boot camp at home ideas and videos), but not sure what it's really like.

Anyone tried on yet? I would love to hear what you thought of it.

Thanks!

Hi, I just joined the forum to answer this question. :) I did boot camp a couple of years ago...and I LOVED IT. I was soo nervous, I remember my only goal for the first week was, "don't throw up!" LOL!!! It wasn't that bad, by the way. My trainer was really encouraging, and not overly pushy. She DID push us though, make no mistake. I ended up signing up for three more sessions. ( My boot camp was in 4 week sessions, with one week break in between.) I would still be doing it but the cost was a huge factor in me stopping. It was very costly. I think that was part of the motivation for me, though....I am not a morning person and had to get up at 445, 5 days a week. Out of 4 sessions, I only missed one day from being sick. I felt soooo guitly about it, too! :)

My group was small, only about 10 women. we all got to know each other and kept each other accountable. It really fed my need for camraderie, as well. I LOVED the feeling of knowing what a particular excercise was when she called it out, and loved not being the new kid and able to help others. I remember sweating my butt off, working hard, and feeling so bad a$$ for coming so far, for ME. My trainer was really good about making it a competition with yourself, and NOT comparing yourself to anyone else. This helped me immensely because of my problems with stupid asthma and running.

If you have any questions, I"d be happy to help if I can.

Last few months I have been following a diet plan and excercise regime here in Spain with a consultant and bootcamp trainer, then I went to the England for a two week vacation at a weightloss bootcamp place in Somerset. Can't rate it highly enough, lost so much weight and helped tone up my body. Eating in the right quantities and being taught what and how to do things has transformed me. Now determined to shift the last 20lb. Its changed my life completely. Really recommend these guys in Spain and England, kind, firm but gentle and get results that you want. Always got time for you and really worked on my mental attitude to food. Also got to say the UK part was amazing, not only did I lose loads of pounds but they also took me on amazing trips to awesome old English places with lunch or dinner at restaurants, all prepared especially for us. Happy to give info on them if anyones interested.

Scared stiff at first of the bootcamp element but after the first few days of extreme sweating and feeling useless it got a whole lot better.

Bootcamp as I know it is really effective and really shifts the weight.

Hope that helps, new to forums and wanted to add my own experience.
