Bodywrap

I got an email today about a company that sells body wraps. The idea is that you measure yourself before a wrap. Slather on some concoction they sell. Then, using stretchy things that look like rolls of bandages, you're wrapped up. Apparently, you can do hips, thighs, jiggly bellies, bottoms, whatever. They say that in an hour you can lose about 10 inches total (over your entire body) and can do one every 5 days or so. They say that it tights up cellulite and firms and tones. Costs $100 bucks for enough to do 6 to 8 wraps. Anybody heard of anything like this? Anyone know if such a thing works?

They've been doing this for years. Basically, what it does is open your pores then you sweat like crazy. You really can lose all that when they do it, but the reason they say you can do it every 5 days is because it will only last for a couple of days. They can't do it more often than that because of dehydration. Basically they draw massive amounts of water out of your body. Lots of people used to use it so they could fit into the slinky dress for the special dinner party. Problem is you turn into Cinderella. After you eat or drink you don't have much time before you pop out of the dress. By the next day it comes back. It was really popular in the 80's. I didn't think they still did it.

It'll get rid of water weight. If I get water weight through any quick method like water pills or fasting or something equally helpless to my overall situation, then I eat a high sodium content food and retain the water all over again. Unfortunately...all quick fixes only last so long...I've been testament to that.

I just talked to my mom about this because she used to get them years ago. In Texas, they became illegal at one time. Don't know about now though. It can be very dangerous because people can become severely dehydrated using this procedure. Mom actually stopped doing them because one time she actually passed out during the wrap!

yea, i wouldn't recommend it. You are losing 99% water, which is not healthy. The reason you have to keep doing it is because your body needs that water and wants it back. As Texas mentioned, it's really only a good idea to do once to fit into a dress or something. Boxers, body builders, etc have similar methods before an event, but it's not something they would ever do on a regular basis because it is so *wrong.

you can get the same results with saran wrap and butt creme! oops i mean preperation H.
