Body Rx...what do you think?

Anybody read the book Body Rx by Scott Connelly? If so what do you think of his methods?

I've not read the book myself, but looking at amazon reviews, it has a 4 out of 5 which is pretty good for 36 reviews. One reviewer states that it is similar to another book (Body For Life) and that BFL is simpler to follow.

I'm currently reading (and just started working out from) by Lou Schuler and Alwyn Cosgrove. The book is a favorite here on the forum, and I can see why.

Haven't read it, but Connelly is no slouch, so it's probably pretty good stuff!
Like stingo, I just finished New Rules. Very very good. A lot of common sense stuff we all ought to know and follow (like what works great for me may do nothing for you, so instead of getting discouraged, shake up your plan, tailor it to you, and go for it!)

The emphasis on Full Body Workouts is really a drastic change from most lifting manuals, but once you start doing FBW's, you'll be sold!

Okay, thanks for the input guys. My boss and I were just having an argument about the book. So, he says that the books says the "key" to weight loss is lifting weights and that you don't even really need cardio. I tried to explain to him that he might have misunderstood the book a little. While incorporating a good weight lifting routine is definately needed, if you want to melt the fat away to actually show the muscle you are building....you need some sort of cardio. It doesn't have to be the blood, sweat and tears kind. He fought me tooth and nail and kept saying that weights is the "key" ingredient. Now I havn't read the book but the guy invented MetRx...he's gotta know what he's talking about and my boss has got to be reading it wrong...

Someone please back me up on this!

I love proving him wrong : )

tell him that I have already eaten over 3600 calories today and I only do cardio and body weight exercises. hahahaha proof positive you can eat lots and swim it off. tough to swim with weights...hahahaha

isn't metabolism one of the things we are trying to increase, and increased heartrate does that eh!

Actually, I think that's the tack NROL takes as well - that you don't need cardio to lose weight, but I'll have to check up on that. Should you have both? I'd say yes - not that I'm any kind of trainer, I just know what's worked for me.
