Body fat %??

How can i work out what my body fat % is supposed to be? Im female, 30, 5ft 4" and now i weigh 145 pounds and my scales say im 32% body fat?

A healthy female body fat is from 18 to 24%. Many personal training organizations consider 30% and above to be obese.

The good news is, that your scale is probably incorrect. The BF caliper is a more realistic representation and can be found online for under $10.

Click to see a very good one (and popular among CPT's who can't afford the $300+ models). It is the one I use.

Try shooting for around 20% for an all-around healthy level.

As a female, you shouldn't get below 12% because it can create health issues (including losing your period!)

hm.. when I started a diet like one year ago I lost my period for quite long time. I thought that this was the reason, so it really is right? (I've lost like 15 kilos in less than 6 months)

sorry to put this in your thread "ocean"

I have the "Accu-Measure Fitness 2000 body fat calipers" and according to the chart that comes with it 32% for a 26-30 year old women is just above average body fat percentage.

Here are the calipers:

I wonder if they are considering "average" to be the average american female... Because, 60+% of Americans are overweight! That means the average BF is too high!

Ya that guy who made that movie just came out with a reality tv show that aired last night i think? I didnt get to see it but saw the commercial ... where him and his wife try to live off minimum wage for a month, etc ... and then later they're gonna live in a muslim country or something like that ...

Ocean-
Rip is right. I have a scale that tells your weight and body fat % and when I get on it, it says my body fat is 30%, but at my gym with the high tech actually accuarte tester they use my bf is 21%. Something about the scales and how you stand, I don't know for sure. But the standard at home two-in-one scales are not correct.
