Birthday Mublings.... Today is a new day

Back again

I am back again, and bigger than ever. I need to take it one day at a time one workout at a time. In December 2008 I weighted 196. I couldn't believe it. I was working out in the gym and eating right most of the time. After thinking long and hard about how I got there I realized although I was in the gym I was only working out 2-3 days a week. Which I know now it good but for me to loose I need to be in the gym no less than 5 days a week. I also realize that although I was eating pretty good. There were two big mistakes that I was doing. One was portion control once I started writing down what I ate I realize my portions were way too big especially at dinner. Another problem I have is with mini vacations and weekends. My husband and I get every other Friday off and we take a lot of mini vacations. On our mini vacations I pretty much eat what I want. I know now that I must always be mindful what I put in my body. A little splurge is never okay. If I have the taste for something I will go for it but only in extreme moderation.
So now my goal is in the gym everyday. I will actually try to go twice a day 5 days a week. I know from now on I must go a minimum of 5 days a week. I know also keep a food and exercise journal. So for right now I will do 100 minutes of Aerobic activity 6 days a week and 20-30 of weights 3 days a week. That is going to be on only way. Well I am off 2 my second workout of the day. My first was 30 minutes of cycling at 5am this morning.

Maimai, glad to see you're back. Hitting the gym every day is really good, but it can cause you to burn out quickly. If you are going twice a day make sure that you are getting in and getting out fast. If you are doing a lift workout, 20-25 min max. You can really exhaust yourself in that time. The people who spend hours a day lifting are very likely not doing all that much work then the person who concentrates on one or two muscle groups and then leaves. Same thing with cardio. get on a machine and go at your highest intensity for 10-20 min. You'll be exhausted and it won't take your whole day.

Going strong, but for how long

For that past two weeks, except on Thursdays (my yoga only day) I have been doing cardio for 90 minutes a day plus, 3-4 days a week I have been lift weight for about 30 minutes. I can see the hint of burnout starting to move in. I have been working out 2-3 times a day for short periods of time. I have been doing 30 minutes in the morning usually followed by two 30-40 workouts one at lunch the other in the evening. On Saturday I am going to Hawaii for a few days, I will use this time to take it easy. I just do plenty of walking, snorkeling and some hiking and continue to monitor my calorie intake. Once I get back I hope to continue my same routine, but probably go down to about 60-70 minutes of cardio a day. And mix it up even more by purchasing a new pair of roller blades.

I feel pretty good about my progress so far. I gained a lot of weight during the month of December. I have lost that weight, now it is time to move on. Now I am close to the same starting weight that I was originally. I just have to keep moving forward. I realize that this is my new way a life and not slip back into old habits. Most days I stay around 1600-1700 calories. Yesterday was really bad, but I know those days will happen and the best thing to do is realize today is a new day. On that note I am off the the gym.

Darn Denny's

So I had my rest day yesterday, My body didn't want to do anything. I went to the gym got on 3 machines for about 5 minutes each. Tried to work legs, and they said no. So I just opt for time in the hot tub. Although I did redeem myself a little and took my dogs for a 40 minute walk late last night.

This morning I did manage to get up for a 30 minute work out before work got 30 minutes in before going to Denny's for the free breakfast. I looked online that the Grand Slam is 770 calories, I am sure that probably didn't account for the butter and syrup (but I am just going to ignore that). At lunch time it was my goal to burn what I ate. I got on and burned 750 before having to return back to work. I finished working out 2 hours ago and I still feel out of breath. I had a very small lunch so I am pretty close to where I should be for this time of day calorie wise, but we won't discus the amount of fat I have consumed today. But, I given the chance I can't lie, I would do it again. I love Pancakes...and bacon....and sausage. That was my first breakfast like that this year and sometime you just got to do it and the price was right.

It's been a while but I am back.

I can't believe it has been over a year since I last posted. Well here it goes.

In December of 2009 my weight topped at 204. The next week I went to my Doctor for help. She suggested a Dr. Supervised liquid diet plan, followed by a modified meal plan, that will give me all the tools I needed to continue to loose weight. I was a little skeptical, but one I know I needed to do something, and two this was my regular GP of the last ten years. This plan wasn't covered by insurance so it will have to come out of pocket. So after discussing with my husband I decided to go for it. My plan would start the 4th of January.

January 4th-- The Start of CMWL PLAN
Monday came, I had to do blood work and get my new food so I didn't eat before my appointment. I weighed in at a 203.5. In one month I was down about 18 pounds. The first four day were the toughest I was so hungry. I was on an 800 calorie diet. With 30 minutes of light exercise a day. This mostly consisted of walking. If I did too much of anything I would get really hungry and get a headache. I saw my Dr. every week. We would do a weigh-in then have a one-on-one consultation. About my eating every week we would discuss a different topic about my eating issues. After the first 4 or 5 weeks I went on a modified version of the plan.

February 9th
I started my modified version that consisted of 3 shakes a day and one meal for about 1000 calories day. This went on for about 2 weeks. I still saw the my Dr. once a week for weigh ins and consults.

Current plan
I am on about 1300 a day. I do about 45-90 minutes of exercise a day. My exercise varies in intensity. Sometimes it is low impact like take the dogs for a walk and dance around the house. It may be all at once or broken up through out the day. There are days that I take off, but not too often. Even if I am tired, I will get some light weights and walk in place while I am watching TV.
