binging problem

I realized that the reason that I am starting to accumulate more pounds is because when I'm bored, I eat. I realized that when I'm with my friends or out at a game or something, I don't eat anything, but when I'm at home, the only thing I have to do is eat. Even if I'm on the computer, I eat, and I can't help it. With school ending tomorrow, I don't think I'll be losing anything over the summer *sigh*, any tips?

don't stay at home. Limit what you have in the house as far as unhealthy snack food. Drink lots of water (helps curb your appetite).

Go for long walks, get an excersize video. Keep yourself busy!! Do you have any hobbies? I agree with CDBoy..If the junk isnt' in the house, you wont' eat it.

I can't help the junk food, I'm 14 and I have 3 sisters who refuse to change their eating habits. I'm a runner, but I only run about 4-5 miles a day so that only takes up an hour. I don't have very many friends to do stuff with so I'm all out of ideas.

hey runforfun, im in the exact same position as you. i have two younger brothers and my mum is always buying junk food for them to have, i have tried telling her that they dont need it, we dont need it in the house but with no luck whatsoever. so today after a horrible night last night i decided enough was enough. i am off shopping in a minute and am going to buy my own healthy food and snacks and keep them in my room, i also eat because i am bored and dont eat nothing when with friends etc so i can relate to you.

i to finish school, forever at the end of the month, i am 17 and in 6th form (yr 13) and with my last exam at the end of june i too will be pretty bored at home most days, apart from the ones when im with my bf or friends, but thats only a couple of times a week.

why not buy your own food if you have a job or source of income, or find a good game on the internet or good pc game to play and keep you distracted?

maybe if you had msn we could chat on there to keep each other from straying to the cupboards when we are bored at the computer!

well anyways, if you like pm me or something, id love to have a weight loss buddy! :p

You can still go out with your friends, lol. You can't expect to lock yourself in the house and not have fun. Just remember to monitor what you eat, and you can just eat whatever you want once in a while, but don't go over board. It's funny, whenever I'm at my friend's house, his mom would always give me fresh veggies because I would ask if she has some, and she cut me up a platter, lol. I love moms.

Another little secret of mine is my own personal guilt trip. Whenever I see junk food, I just tell myself that i'm cheating myself, and it's going to build up. And then I get scared and don't eat it. Unless i'm at a party, dinner or something. I let myself eat whatever I want, as long as it's in proportion and just leave the rest.

join a running club ... boys & girls club ... there are lots of organizations out there to occupy your time outside of school.

thats what i was just gonna say, get a summer job... if u cant find one, try to mow lawns or wash peoples cars for cheap to keep busy and to burn calories.

Thats a great idea you guys... The summer job thing could really turn into a multitasking situation...burn cal & make money.. i like it

That actually is a really good job, but I can't think of anyone that would want a car to be washed or grass to be mowed, I'm kind of taking it upon myself to clean the house so my mom can go to college and finish her degree and not have to worry about the house, but housework doesn't burn much does it.

I'm too young to get a job (just turned 15 a week ago)

15 year olds around here anyway can work limited hours like as a bus person in a restaurant. you might have to get a work permit, im not sure. its been a long time and i dont know how things are these days. cant hurt to check the classifieds!

yeah get a job. Or do something that'll keep yourself occupied. you're 15.. hmm Well In Canada, the only jobs you can get are like fast food places. I've had friends who worked in fast food and it sucks. To be a hostess or a bus boy/girl I think you have to be 16. You can always volunteer at pet stores or summer camps. Be a camp counsellor! Well I think i'm all out of ideas. It's really hard to get a job at 14/15, but good luck! Volunteering looks really good on a resume :)

I'm not sure where you're from but I know in my case...At 15 I worked at a restaurant bussing tables. So I know in the US that you can. Also, during the school year you can only work limited hours (those hours increase with age), but in the summer you can work as much as you want.
