Binge eating

Cessation

New member
Hi, my name is Chris, I'm 23, male and from England.

I'm 5'9" and recently I have been as low as 11 and a half stone in weight, but that has, within 7 weeks, shot up to 13 stone 6 (190 lbs). This isn't the first time this has happened to me, but right now, things are getting really serious for me. This isn't normal binge eating. For 7 of the last 10 evenings, I have eaten a whole box (500g) of cereal, be it muesli, corn flakes, whatever IN ADDITION to my three normal meals a day. This is not even counting snacking.

This isn't due to hunger, I know I'm not hungry and it's making me feel sick, but I just can't stop. I'm pretty sure it's psychological, but can't be 100%. My stomach will be in agony from all i've eaten, yet I will just shove more down my throat. I'm starting to really worry as it's a cycle I just cannot stop and it's ruining my life as the weight gain is really starting to show on my chest and my belly and I'm refusing to go out to places because I am so conscious of how I look. I exercise fully 4 times a week for at least 45 mins but because of the amount of calories I consume, it barely makes a dent. Infact, it just makes me want to eat even more.

Would really appreciate any advice on this as I'm so down about the whole thing and it's taking me over. Would be grateful if no one talks about 'portions' either as that isn't the issue, it's the fact I just can't stop going to get more.

:(

if you think it's psychological - dig into the reasons why

You want help -- go to a professional.... or go to overeaters anonymous or another program like that..

But until you figure out why you're doing it - and only you know the reason... it's going to be difficult to stop - many people with "addictions" trade one addiction for another.

Look in the phone book for a mental health professional

and portions are the issue actually

+1.

One reason I got to the way i am is because of my parents divorce. I was only 8 or 9 and ate and ate because I was depressed. A professional may be what you need to find out the root cause.

Unfortunately, it is portion control and will power. You need to master yourself and realize you are capable of anything you put your mind to.

Best of luck... if you need to talk to someone, let me know and I can share my email address with you. I'll help out best I can. No, I'm not a psychologist, but I did stay at a Holiday inn Express last night...

Hi, I'm new here as well but I definitely know what you're going through.

I've struggled with bulimia for years I recently started to get professional help. It has made such a difference.

There's deep reasons why you're eating your feelings and by getting professional help you'll be surprised by the difference it will make. By recognizing those issues that are causing you to lose control you can stop yourself before a binge.

I highly recommend going to a doctor for counselling, it'll definitely help!

Best of luck :)
