BikiniBound's Diary

I generally think of the first name as dominant, but I believe traditionally hyphenated names are mother-father.

Way to go mama! What a beautiful baby!

I'm so glad that you two are doing well. :)

Kiss that baby for me.

Love to you both!

We finally have a name!!

I got my way. :D

May Victoria and the last name is hyphenated mine-his. May is my gran's middle name and Victoria is my SIL's name.

We are home from the hospital. After talking to my midwife and dh today, I learned that I lost nearly a gallon of blood when I hemorrhaged. I'm glad I didn't know that while it was happening, or I probably would've fainted. :svengo:

Well, May is breastfeeding like a trooper today, but my milk still hasn't come in. After feeding for about 2hrs over a 4hr period this afternoon and evening, and still being hungry, I broke down and gave her an ounce of formula. I didn't want to do that, but I just can't let her scream b/c she's hungry, and if she loses much more weight her pediatrician will want me to supplement anyway. I just hope my milk comes in tomorrow.

And I can't wait to weigh myself tomorrow morning to see how much I've lost since I gave birth. :)

Awwwww... I'll have another MaeMae nickname to use! ;)

May's can be MayMay. :D

I gave Chrisy her nickname at age 1.

Her name is Chrisy Mae _

:)

Everyone calls her that now..lol

:leaving: Holy cow woman, so glad everything was taken care of re: the HUGE loss of blood. That is so freaky and dangerous!

PTL you guys are all safe and home. :Angel_anim:

Rest up and enjoy motherhood sweetie! :grouphug:

Luv Ya,

Stacy *smoochies*

That is pretty much a total blood transfusion that you needed. Thank goodness that you were at the hospital. People speak so appealingly of the joy of being in home surroundings when giving birth - but if you had gone that route we would have lost you. Really scary stuff!!!!! Something worth remembering for next time too!

The name is absolutely lovely. You have always been close to your grandmother and I am sure that she will be delighted. Your sister in law will be pleased too. Just think - as an added bonus the name will appeal to members of the May family around the world...

Oh I love that name! Very classy and pretty. :)

And the hemorrhage thing- my jaw dropped. I'm so glad you're well.

As for the nursing, I hope it works out for you. I loved the bonding. Also, I had to supplement my son (10 1/2 lbs at birth) with some formula. He was always hungry! I wonder if that's a big baby thing?

You're doing wonderful. Enjoy that baby!

Beautiful name!
Don't worry to much about the supplementing with formula. Your milk will come in soon. And I agree with SoSel. I do believe the bigger the baby the more they want.
Make sure your drinking plenty of fluids and getting as much rest as you can.
Take care.

What a pretty name! Names are so hard! lol It's something the kid has for life! It sounds like her's came from some very important people:) Glad you got it all worked out!
I hope you guys are doing well and enjoying being home!

Weighed myself this morning and I'm 15lbs less than I was Fri morning. :D So that means I have 18lbs more to lose to get back to pre-preg weight.

Stacy--I've been calling her Maysie Daisy..lol. She is such a sweet baby.

Margaret--Yes, I thought of you...lol. See my facebook comment if you haven't already. ;)

Well the feeding issues are still ongoing. She got weighed again at the pediatricians today. She is now down a full pound from her birth weight. She seems to feed well, but she spits up a lot still and she's not having nearly enough dirty or pee diapers. It really worries me. She also is not very intersted in formula. I'm not sure what to do, and my milk still hasn't come in. I'm going to call the lactation consultant hot line tomorrow and see what they suggest. I'm really upset about it, and the hormones have me crying over it. I just want her to be ok...if my milk would just come in...:banghead:

It's common for a baby to lose a little bit of weight after birth isn't it?

:) you didn't gain very much with this pregnancy either! Seems great.

It is normal for babies to lose up to 10% of their birth weight, but she is very close to that 10%. Atm it's .9%, so if she loses anymore, she'll be over. :(

I told you that you should start a challenge just before giving birth and win for sure. 15 pounds is a pretty excellent first week weight loss. It is over a stone!!!! I am sure that some of the others have said that weight virtually drops off over the first few weeks. You have done really well to be just 18 pounds up at this stage in the game. With your knowledge you will be back to your pre-pregnancy weight in no time.

I came here before logging in to FB today. Will see your comment in a minute.

Try not to worry too much about her weight. Although mother's milk is the best thing - from what I have heard from friends it often doesnt seem to kick in straight away. A lot of honing has been done on the contents of bottle milk and babies can and do thrive on that. I am sure that if she is actually hungry she will take that. I suspect that it is one of those things where it can be counterproductive if you worry too much. Emotions and hormones can have a major impact on how our bodies work in addition to how we feel. You are aware that it is an issue and you are flagging it up to those that can help you. Take comfort in the fact that she is a large baby and even at her reduced weight is big compared to many her age.

:iagree:
Try to relax. The milk will come as long as you keep at it. Formula can do for now but you are calling in the experts and they can help you through. Try to relax and enjoy your cute little girl!:) I lost a lb when I was born and I was only 6lbs so it was a major loss. She will come right back up!

Have you been using the breast pump to get it going since it hasn't started yet? You've probably tried this already.. Just try to feed her very very frequently, just an ounce or less, as I'm sure you're also already doing. Dont worry, she WILL eat as she gets hungry.

Mishi--That is a huge drop in weight you had! I was just looking at your ticker. I didn't realize you are so close to delivering yourself! Good luck with it! :)

Claudia--Yeah, I did do some pumping when I couldn't get her to feed regularly. But lately she's been feeding a lot so I haven't pumped since late afternoon yesterday. I do believe my milk is coming in, though, as I woke up leaking and my boobs seem a bit fuller today. She's already fed 3x since 8am today, and she took a big poo. :hurray: Never thought I'd be so happy to change a poopy diaper. :D

The lactation consultant called a little bit ago. I told her all that's been going on and she said not to worry, that big babies are often not all that interested in colostrum and wait for the milk to come in, and the changes in the last 12 hrs or so seem to mean everything's looking good.

I am sooo relieved. :)

OH I am so glad! I have heard it can take a few days but it's frustrating when it doesn't just happen at once and your little one is hungry. Her weight will come up fast for sure.
Thank you for well wishes. My first due date is the 15th and the doc said they won't let me go past the 22nd due to high BP... well I guess the threat of high BP right now I am still in an ok range. So any day now would be good for me!! Our babies will be very close together:) lol
Of course after I have a lot of work to do. I wasn't as diligent and gained a lot which means more to lose! I am looking forward to getting back to it! It's awesome you only have 18lbs to lose after:) You'll snap back in no time!

I LOVE the name!!! Beautiful name for a beautiful girl.

Don't fret too much about the milk, it'll come. Especially since your boobs seem to feel fuller. I never got any milk after having Bella but that was all due to my estrogen levels plummeting immediately after birth. Supplementing for now is just fine for Maysie Daisy. Bella has always been on formula and she's incredibly healthy. I understand being upset though. When I found out I wasn't ever going to have milk for her, I bawled for 2-3 hours. It killed me and I felt inadequate as a mother. I know now it was the hormones making me feel like crap. This time the doc is monitoring me closely and we are going to try treatment after birth to possibly help with the milk flow.

15lbs is awesome! I told you I lost 20lbs after birth and I hope I do that again this time. You'll have the 18lbs off in no time, especially since you're breastfeeding.
