BikiniBound's Diary

I am pleased that you have already been on a salmon hunt.

I have just checked my data. I had two losses the next day out of the last eight times that I had roast pork (visible fat trimmed), gravy (not using meat juices) boiled veg (no potatoes). I still eat it - but if salmon is an option - I know which I would choose in your shoes.

Back in 2000 H and I took a 5-week/22-state road trip around the Eastern half of the U.S. and visited 8 of our friends (my college buddies and friends we'd made in Korea). It was a lot of fun. I would love to do it again and include a bunch of WLF people.

You're welcome at my crib!

It's too late for salmon today, but maybe tomorrow. I just checked the store ads for this week, and both of them have big fish sales going on b/c Lent. So...I'll be buying salmon, cod, mahi mahi, white bass and catfish.

We are supposed to dogsit for a co-worker of mine from tomorrow night until next Friday. However, she doesn't have a wireless connection for my laptop, nor a wired high speed connectin that I'm aware of. Anyway, I'm not going to risk not being able to do all the point adding up, etc tomorrow at midnight, so I told H he's going to have to stay there on his own tomorrow..lol. He doesn't mind, as he likes the dogs more than I do anyway. He'll also enjoy the alone time watching TV (they do have awesome satelite), reading and drinking beer as he chooses. :biggrinjester:

Since we'll be dogsitting this week, I'll be cooking dinner pretty much every night, so we'll get our fill of fish. H is always saying he wishes we ate more fish, so now he'll get so much of it he'll probably be sick of it. :biggrinjester:

Thanks, Claudia! The last time we were in NYC we stayed at this hotel for $125 a night that had a double bed and a shared bathroom way down the hall. Everything is so expensive there, so a place to bed down for free would be awesome. Of course, you have to come visit me in return (once we get our house). :D I don't see us taking another long roadtrip anytime soon, though. I would love to take H to England for a week to 10 days this summer, but I was checking out plane tickets the other day and they were over $1000 a pop! What happened to the days of $500 fares? We could fly to Australia for just a bit more. I'm going to keep my eye out, though, b/c I think this will be our last year of freedom before having a baby, and I want a last hurrah Europe trip. KWIM?

Big fish sales are well worth taking advantage of. I buy fish whenever it is on sale - especially salmon. Fill the freezer tomorrow.

This week I have had salmon twice, mackerel, vietnamese river cobbler and plaice. You can site me to hubby if he starts saying that you are having too much fish.

If we hear less of you over the next week we will know that you are glued to the satellite tv.

salmon is good but i heard you should eat it too often. I usually buy it at aldi's....is very cheap and individually wrapped and frozen.....do you have aldis stores in michigan?

No need to say anything to H about the fish. I told him today I was buying a bunch of fish and that we'd probably have for dinner 4 nights this week. His reply: "Good!" :biggrinjester: He likes fish much more than I do.

I believe they have a computer with dsl connection, but I don't know how well my laptop will do there. I think it will be ok, but I'll wait until Saturday to go over. H will be at the pub with the lads tomorrow night anyway.

Well, I've been pricing tickets to London today. I wanted to go in late June so we could spend a day or two at Wimbledon. But tickets in the summer are outrageous--over $1000. H will have a week off in April, though, and United is having a Europe sale, so I managed to find tickets for $725 each. That is still $225 per person more than I want to pay, but....oh well. Then I spent the evening pricing hotels....hahaha. I didn't care about a shared bath when I was in college, but now that I'm older I want an en suite. :D I don't care if the hotel is fancy--just clean. The best I could find was GBP75 per night. Which isn't terrible, but it's nearly double what I wanted to pay..lol. H had some Aussie friends living in Chelsea who offered to put us up, but I think they've gone back to Australia. I was hoping to do the trip for under $2000, but that looks next to impossible. I think $3,000 is more realistic. Now I just have to talk H into doing it. :D I haven't even mentioned it to him, yet it's only 2 months away.

Yes, we have Aldis here, but I've never been. I can get those individually wrapped/frozen salmon fillets for $1 each when they're on sale. This week's sales are all at the fish counter, though.

Exercise this week:
2/4—none, weight: 222
2/5—1hr circuit training, 30 min bike, 10.18 miles, weight: 222
2/6—30 min exercise bike, 10.2 miles, weight: 221 (new low)
2/7—60 min circuit training, weight: 220.5 (new low)

Thurs calories: 1,534

I did very well again with my food, so hopefully I'll hit another new low Friday.

If we do go to London in April, I want to be in Onederland. That means I will have to bust my ass to lose 20lbs in 8 weeks, b/c that's 2.5lbs per week.

I've been going to a Curves type place. It's not a franchise, but the machines are very similar to Curves. I checked out a gym nearby that is more traditional and has hours better suited to my schedule. I need to find out if they will give me a free week trial so I can see if I like it. Time to switch things up.

Oh ok - ya I got tired fo the cicuit at Curves and eventually your physical ability out grows it I think...Im torn between gyms and friends or gyms at all - I have bene doing pretty damn good on my own but I need to make a decision...either go to the gym 3 mornings a week at 6am with a girlfriend or 2 nights a week at 9pm and 10pm - with a male coworker - ha ha ha...

What is a fish that has a good texture? I don't really like fish... but I want to find a way to cook fish/ a type of fish that is really good.

I think salmon is probably a safe bet. It is my favorite kind of fish. Put some lemon and/or lime juice on it, and some other spices. I like tarragon or cilantro, and some hot pepper.

Ok, so tonight I was trying to find an old pic and still haven't found it. I did, however, find my wedding pics in the process. Wow! I weighed about the same as I do now in those, and let me tell ya, it ain't purty!! I was going to have H take some pics of me this weekend, but now I'm scared to!! Well, I guess I'll have him take them, and if they're horrible, I just won't post them here. :biggrinjester:

The good thing about this is that it's motivated me to work harder and stay focused. I can't rest on my laurels now, I still have too much work to do. Especially if we go to England, I need to lose weight. I want to be in onederland when I go there. I have never weighed more than 185lbs when in Europe, and I felt fat then next to all those skinny European girls. I can only hope they've also fattened up over the last decade. :biggrinjester:

Most of the women are SO slim, I've felt like a cow any time I've been in Europe except the last time, when I was in England about 5 years ago. I was wearing a size 6 and looking really quite good, in my very humble opinion ha ha. Actually I'm remembering back how good I looked, now that I remember I met up with my friend Catherine and I felt huge next to her size 2 and much taller self.

Once I went to Italy with my BF when I was around a size 10 and honestly, I often couldn't fit into the largest size in the shop. And the styles are always around 1 1/2 years ahead of our styles, so I felt horribly out of style to boot. But I did manage to find some beautiful clothing, shoes and bags and I kept and used that stuff for years to come, it was such great quality and so stylish it just lasted and lasted. I finally had to stop wearing the beige leather jean jacket when the seams started ripping years later. Now that was some good ass shopping! My sis loves the store Next in the UK and I got lots of cute things from them when I was over there, you'll have to check it out.

Hi Kimberly

I am certainly looking forward to you getting here. We will have to keep our schedules right so that I am not in Greece when you are here.

Take it from me - not every European girl is skinny. There are still a fair proportion of us cuddly girls in England.

I suspect that people have generally fattened up everywhere. I believe that today's sedentary lifestyle has much to answer for. Convenience foods is also a culprit.

We are all going to work as hard as we can over the next few months - but do not worry if you do not quite make it to a line in the sand that you draw now. We have come a long way already and I am sure that we can do a lot between now and the summer. I am sure that we will achieve an appreciable weight loss - but in my experience aggressive targets do not always go to schedule. You will have a great holiday irrespective of the number on the scales at the time you leave.

I have a theory that photographs never do me justice. I always think that I look so much older and fatter on them than I ever do in my mind's eye or when I glance in a mirror. I definitely prefer my mind's eye image.

Enjoy the dog-sitting and the fish! We are having rainbow trout tonight.

Take care
Love
Margaret

Ha! With the dollar as weak as it is, I doubt I'll be doing much clothes shopping. I'm not much of a fashionista anyway. I would rather spend my time there seeing the sights (well, I've already seen the sights several times, but H hasn't). When H's parents visited us in Korea, his mom wanted to hit the shops that sold knock offs. We spent an entire afternoon shopping for a purse for her. The thought would never even occur to me to spend an afternoon purse shopping--anywhere. :D

But the women are very thin. When I was in Brussels studying, one of the American girls in my program was tall like me--about 5'9", and weighed considerably less. I was about 175-185 and she was probably about 135-145, and a size 8-10 (this was in the early 90s so more like a current size 6-8). Anyway, she never felt fat in the U.S., but she did over there. Even the women who worked in the stores gave her the, "you're too fat to fit into any of the sizes we sell here" look. :willy_nilly: I think the Europeans tend to be smaller framed than us Yanks, in addition to generally being less overweight. I didn't notice this as much in Australia, though. Maybe living in the New World (or colonization) increases the size of one's bones. :biggrinjester:

Oh, I hear you there, sister!! I feel exactly the same way. In my mind, I'm a 165lb 22yr old. :biggrinjester: Oh if only!

Well, I still have to convince H. I haven't even mentioned it him. I suppose I'd better do it soon, as he needs time to warm up to ideas like this. :)

I suspect you're right about that. Even Koreans are getting fatter thanks to all the fast food out there. But the last time I was in Europe it was 1994, and people were still pretty thin in general.

Yes, whenever I set an agressive (read unattainable) goal for myself, I never reach it. Some plateau always seems to occur. However, I'm thinking that a change in gyms could work wonders. I need to get on the ball about this.

Enjoy the dog-sitting and the fish! We are having rainbow trout tonight.

Rainbow trout eh? My H will be over there shortly..haha. I think we're having salmon tonight. I'll ask granny which fish she prefers. Enjoy your trout. I just finished brekkie. :)
