Bicycle trainers

Hello all!

First off, I would to apoligize if there has already been a similar thread here, the search option for some reason was being rather weird for me, secondly if I posted this in the wrong forum. I was wondering if a bicycle trainer would be a good exercise for losing weight? I live in an area in the North which is snow covered from about October to April, and I am not exactly one of those graceful mongooses that can go jogging with snow on the ground. Thus, I was looking for a good indoor exercise to do that wouldn't cost a fortune.

Thanks a bunch! :blush5:

Bicycle trainers are those things that avid cyclists use to hook their bicycle up to so they can pedal during inclement weather and not go anywhere?

It really serves as a stationary bike and thats good cardio... so yes...

But losing weight is a matter of both exercise and diet...

What are your current stats? and your goals?

You also might want to read around the forum -- especially the stickied threads for some ideas on strength training work outs as well.

Well, over about two years I have lost 170 lbs, however, during winter with the inability to exercise (no gym membership, and my primary exercises were outside) I have put on about 15 lbs., and now I am looking for a no-excuse exercise to get these 15 pounds off and to stay at my weight. I have a godo diet, but random splurges in winter have aided to the weight gain. I am a 18 year old male and am 6ft. 4in. and weigh 170(well, the weight I liked during summer), but I weigh 190 now with the 15 pound or so weight gain. :willy_nilly:

I use a trainer for my bike, cycling is a great calotie burner. I have to warn you now though, set it up near entertainment like a tv and put some movies on. Its gets boring lol.

I have a fan next to mine to keep the sweat down (yep, even on the coldest days i can work up a sweat)
