Best time to workout

How does working out at different times of the day effect your weight loss? I eat at about 5pm workout at 7 and sleep at 9pm without eating anything else, I don't feel hungry either. I've read here often that people work out first thing in the morning before eating, what does that do?

i asked the same question to a PT and what he said was if you workout first thing in the morning WITHOUT eating anything, your body will first get energy from your muscles before fat (because when waking up, provided that you didn't eat a very heavy dinner and an 8 hour sleep) so there is depletion in muscles FIRST before fat. He also told me to eat some good carbohydrates before weight training and protein after. I only workout in the morning if i'm going to do HIIT because it elevates my metabolism the whole day and do weight training at 7 pm too (the body builds muscles better when asleep) I hope this helps!

I eat a grapefruit, take my thermogenics and have 3 hard boiled egg whites, 1 hour later,
hit the gym hard, 4 day split, but friday, same morning, just workout in the afternoon. Thats when I weigh myself. Friday afternoons around 230pm.

The best time to work out is when you can do it. Some say its in the morning, some say mid afternoon. I can only work out in the evenings. My job, wife, and kids keep me busy the rest of the time. Working out at the wrong time by fitness experts standards beats the crap out of no exercise at all.

right, the best time to workout is the time you commit to day in and day out. morning, afternoon, evening, etc just get it done :)

I have had experiences with several different workout times. I have read several books/articles/magazines/etc that each has it's own opinion and reasons why this time or that time is best. Here is my opinion and the ideology behind each:

Wake up workout-Does well to elevate metabolism for the rest of the day. Idea-If you raise your metabolism as soon as you start your day, it will cause a metabolic increase throughout your whole day. Drawback-Not sure if the metabolic effect will remain higher throughout the day or if it will gradually return to its baseline.

Midday workout-No bonuses or negatives over the other two.

Pre-sleep workout-Raises metabolism just before you sleep. Idea-Metabolism declines at a fairly constant rate while you sleep, so if you raise your metabolism before you go to bed, then you will gradually raise your waking metabolism, thus raising your daily metabolism. Drawback-Trying to go to sleep right after a workout.

Please realize, this is just from what I have read and does not, in ANY way mean that I am right. This just seems to be the layman's way of looking at it, and I am a layman, so it fits for me. If anyone has any info proving/disproving these ideas, please let me know. Personally, I work out a few hours before I go to sleep.

I feel like when I work out at night I am burning up all those un-used calories rather then sleeping with them... Plus it is the best time for me. So I will just keep on doing so, Thanks everyone!!
