What would you add to this list?

Deadlift
Squat
Snatch
Chin Up
Press Up
Clean
Military Press
Cable Woodchop
Lunge
Handstand

(including all the variations of these exercises of course)

I'd like to test bent press some time.

Oh yeah, and there ain't nothing wrong with the plain old bench press, either. The base exercise for upper body.

DAMN RIGHT TURKISH GET UPS!!! I just started doing those like theres no tomorrow, they are one of my top Exercises I love to HATE!

Excuse me for being anal but I like to class all my exercises into:

Push
Pull
Bend
Twist
Squat
Lunge

Where does a T.Get Up come in this list??

Get rid of the push up. there is no point.

bench press all the way.

You may fin that you got too many simular exersises there. May need to remove some. Get rid of the hand stand (why do you have that) And dont bother with the clean if you got a military press and deadlift.

I disagree with the get rid of the push-up.
While you cant add weight to it as easily as you can a bench press, I think it is a crucial exercise for someone to be able to push their body weight up, while maintaining a strong core.

Remember, you are supported during a bench press, and therefore, abs are not working as hard as they are during a push-up. I'm not saying one over the other, but to completely eliminate the push-up, I think is a mistake.

3 min planks front and both sides?? that would be 3 min a piece. you think that does any good, they kill me but i don't know if they are a good one the do.

But you get hardly any strength gains from push ups. The stronger you are the less push ups are worth doing. If you cannt do 10, then yes thet are a good idea. But when your strong enough to do more than 20 thay are pointless.

"I think it is a crucial exercise for someone to be able to push their body weight up, while maintaining a strong core."

True, But if someone weights 100lbs and can bench 200lbs, then there is no point in pushing your body weight. Also, you feet are on the floor so your only pushing 60-70% of your body weight.

I think pushups are great for beginers and as a warm up but not for serious strenght trainers. working your core... There are plenty of other ways.

Jenn - 3 mins of planks are pretty good. try bringing your elbows together and up infront of your eyes, or higher!!! make it hard enough so you can only do 1min. If its still too easy put ur hands on the floor, next to eachother, above your head, with your elbows off the floor!!!!! Ever heared of a Zim-push up? Arms out streched and together! really tricky!!!

Post a video of you doing a one armed handstand push-up and then tell me push ups and handstands are useless and dont require strength.

And if you dont clean, how are you supposed to to M.Presses?

You didnt say handstand push up. Just handstand, I thort it was funny.

I doubt I could do a one armed handstand push up. But if I wanted to I would train for it by doing Arnold press.

Sorry I was getting confused with the clean. I was trying to cut down on the guys trap work or he may struggle, he has quite a few exersises here that are killers for the traps.

Body weight exersises are rubbish for strength training. Find a powerlifter or body builder that does pushups for building mass.
Bodyweight exersises are good for pumping blood in to the muscle to give tempory hypertrophy, and as a warm up.

Bodyweight exersises do build muscle, but very slowly, and once you have a bit of bulk, they wont help you anymore.

I think One armed handstands, push-ups, squats and chins are all very good strength builders. Even some of the worlds serious strongmen would have a serious problem doing a set of one armed chins

I really dont think this "single arm, handstand push up" would be very a good exersise. Even if it were possable, your back would be too bent and you wouldn't have enough balence to do it anyway.

Then how do you explain the physiques, strength and power of gymnasts. From what I understand, very few gymnasts train with free weights but instead utilize their bodyweight as resistance. And I'm not talking about olympic caliber gymnasts either.Collegiate and even high school aged gymnasts all possess great physiques as well as an appreciable level of strength.

I dont know any male gymnasts so I cant really get involved in that.

But during my 12 years in martial arts I done massive amounts of body weight ex. I did 1hour of bodyweight ex every 2days, from when I was 9 untill 20.
Since Ive been lifting weights I am making bigger and better gains in size and strength every workout, when it used to be every month.

You can only get so big with body weight ex, before your body needs more weight and varience in its resistance training.

If your trying to tell me that body weight training is anywhere near as good for developing streangth as lifting weights, then Why dont powerlifters do any bodyweight ex?
