Hi everyone! I am morbidly obese 267lbs and I am thinking of joining a boxercise class. I am quick shy because of my weight but motivated to lose a lot of it. I am worried that I will not be able to keep do the exercise and keep up with the pace of the class. I know that I will probably stand out because of my size as I am sure that there will be a lot thinner people there.
Should I do some other form of exercise?
What do you think.

Well i can personally understand your concerns about working out in places where thinner people may be. When i first started my weight loss journey i was living with my brother in an apartment complex that had a nice gym that was open 24hours. Believe it or not, i would wake up at 2am 5 times a week and go work out for an hour. Obviously that may not be possible for you, so if you have access to a playstation or an xbox DDR (Dance Dance Revolution) is another way of getting great cardio in privacy. Believe it or not, i lost my first 20 lbs or so from just DDR and mildly watching my food intake. Jogging around your neighborhood would also work; but if none of these options appeal to you, i could also recommend jumping jacks old fashioned crunches, just be careful so you dont hurt your neck!

My humble opinion:

Who cares about everyone else---you're doing this for you and as long as you are happy doing what you're doing then to heck with everyone else. I've been going to the gym for almost a year now and everyone I've dealt with has been uber nice and helpful, I think you'll find it a nice place to be---especially when you think that the 'skinny' people probably didn't all start out 'skinny', they're probably just like you---a work in progress. :)

I think that if boxercise is what you want to do, then you should at least give it a good shot. Feed off that motivation.

However, you might want to try other forms of exercise in addition - such as walking for exercise, weight lifting, or cycling. If you are out of condition, and haven't exercised for a long time, you really should consult with your doctor in advance - get a check up, and ask their advice. Take it easy, and before you know it, you'll be slimmer, fitter, and able to pursue more strenuous exercises and activities.
