Benefits to weighted vests?

I do a lot of running, usually six miles a day four days a week. I'd like to burn off some extra weight, and even though I run and watch what I eat its nor really happening.

What are the general thoughts on the use of weighted vests while running? Are they indeed beneficial? If so, can anyone recommend some good ones?

Thanks.

Weighted vest are a danger to anyone thet uses them. you'll end up with bad hips, knees and ankles. If you want to burn more fat its quite simple...

run faster.

Have a look in the HIIT forum and start doing HIIT instead. eatting correctly and weight training are both essential.

You say you run and watch what you eat but nothing is happening... this is just because you dont yet know enough about it.

I should have been more clear. Nothing is happening now. I lost about 40 pounds and since plateaued off. I'm just looking for something extra now.

I've tried HIIT, and I just prefer the longer run.

well there lies your problem. You’ve tried HIIT, but your doing long runs. If you want to lose the fat you need to run faster. Its that simple.

The closer you get to perfection, the harder it is and the more energy you need to burn to lose the fat. If you don’t take it to the next level you will stay exactly as you are. As I said before, weight training, improving your diet and HIIT will give you the body you want. Now you just have to decide how much you want it and how much effort you will put into it.
