What you must try to remember is that, people who are losing weight are usually very conscious of how they look and so they tend to look at themselves in the mirror quite a lot - the problem with this is, on a day to day basis, any differences are going to be imperceptible. This was the problem I had to begin with and I kept thinking "What am I putting this effort in for, it doesn't seem to be making a difference". There are also those who weigh themselves daily, or even several times a day which can be counter-productive as weight fluctuates throughout the day. Gradually though, I began to notice changes.
I think you do need to be patient to begin with but, before long (a few weeks for me) other people started to notice, and then over the holidays when I saw people I hadn't seen for months, I got a lot of favourable comments!
As far as weighing in goes, I weigh myself once a week and check my BF% once every 2 weeks as I like to give myself enough time to make progress.
All I can suggest is stick with it and you won't be disappointed!
