Being a responsible adult! Weight loss n stuff...

Boring title, right?

Yea, I'm starting my fiftieth journal on here. Ha. I think I had a bit of a mental breakthrough recently though that kind of reflects my title... Started with me and my husband talking about having babies in the next year or two... which kind of made me look at myself and realise I've been pretty irresponsible with a lot of aspects of my life. I still don't feel 'grown up' enough to be having babies, haha! So I've decided I really want to get out of the way a lot of things I've been putting off- weight loss being the obvious first one.

I think I've failed in the past because even a few months ago I just wanted to be teeny and super lean! Since I've been seriously training though, and watching my body change (even without weight loss), my goals have definitely changed. And become a lot more reachable in the process- which is where I've been holding myself back. I was 64kgs at the beginning of last year and was definitely small, even without exercise. So that's my goal- any kgs after that are vanity kgs for sure! If I decide I want to lose more I'll make a new goal when I get there.

I do have other things I've been putting off... like... visiting the dentist. I have made an appt for in a fortnight... and it's been about 9 years since I've been (I had braces back then) so I'm not looking forward to it. But I have had several friends in the last year posting on FB about their teeth randomly caving in on them and it's given me mild panic each time- decided I don't want that to be me!!

Also a proper doctor check up, which is going to be pretty important since we're thinking of starting a family in the next year or two!

And finally, I'm still jobless and we have a fair amount of debt we need to get rid of. Yikes.

The next 6 months are going to be all about me taking responsibility for myself I guess- I'm setting a few goals to accomplish in that time, then after that I'll set a few more!

Goals to achieve in the next 6 months

Weigh 64kgs by 14th July
Visit the dentist... AND... have any work done that I need (not going to put that off, haha!)
See a doc for a full check up!
And finally... Get a job!

I have signed up for a 6 week biggest loser type challenge at my gym, it starts sometime in the beginning of April. At the moment I'm still seeing my PT, when I start the challenge we can attend up to 5 classes a week at no extra cost (other than the inital sign up fees for the challenge) so I'll be doing that for the 6 weeks instead. Also, first prize is $1000, and I am determined to win it.

As of 24th Feb my stats were:
26/F
Weight: 73.9kgs
Bust: 104cms
Waist: 83cms
Hips: 101cms

I was 73.1kgs on Mon, aiming to be 72kgs at the end of this month.

Forgot to mention- going on a mini weekend away at the end of April, mini goal is to be 69.5kgs by then!
 
Another really good day today (3rd in a row). I'm rockin it this week! Went for a 1hr walk this morning even though it looked like it was going to rain (and it did. Twice. Had an umbrella but it didn't help much). Also had to get a few things from the shop so that was another 20ish mins walking there an back. Calories today were around 1885 for a deficit of 870cals.

Seriously, good to see you're still focused. I feel for you on the job stuff. For me at that age, searching for a job was almost as hard as searching for a date. But you'll find something soon. I too need to see the dentist (it's been about 6 months now).
 
Haha I guess I just want to be a responsible adult in things that could affect me in the long run... Things I've kind of shied away from because I was either afraid or other reasons. Has absolutely nothing to do with growing up, not sure that will ever happen!! Least it's only been 6 months for you... I'm DREADING to see what almost a decade has done to my teeth. I know it won't be good, most of my front teeth are sensitive and pretty much all my orthodontic work has been undone because I never got my wisdom teeth out. Grrr.

Didn't do a workout today, had an AWFUL sleep last night. As in, I didn't really sleep. I was anxious to the max about an appt that's still over a fortnight away. What. This is crazy! I don't flinch at needles, have a HUGE pain tolerance level... I guess the reason I get so worked up is I'm convinced I'm going to get a crazy lecture before them telling me they need to remove all my teeth, then I also have to give them my kidneys and my first born child to pay for it. Seriously... Not talking about this anymore!!!

I DID get out of the house, I was feeling a bit stir crazy so I walked to one of the shopping centres here, treated myself to a large coffee (which put my carbs up much higher than I would've liked... but so worth it!) and walked around for about an hour. When I got home I spent 2 hours making the house immaculate. Cleaned every single surface, dusted every nook and cranny, disinfected every inch of our bathroom... then vacuumed and mopped and did a load of washing. Don't know what came over me, haha! I was considering going for a walk now-ish, but really don't think I can be bothered. Today can just be another rest day. I've had another awesome food day anyway, 580cal deficit so I'm all good to just do nothing now.

YAY, Kate!!! I just posted a crazy long ramble on your diary (feel free to ignore it, I'm all hyped up after just waking up and working out, haha!)

Well today is opposite of yesterday! Had an awesome sleep last night, so today I woke up and did the workout I was going to do yesterday instead of biking (this is what I did: ) According to HRM I burned 582cals in 55mins, jeez! I put it under circuit training on Fitday and let it sit at what they had (462cals) as I'm pretty sure HRM's tend to overestimate calorie burn. I recommend that workout though, it was fun! So upping food slightly, also Wade has invited me out for coffee this arvo when he knocks off work and I want a latte instead of a black one... so I've changed a few things around too. Eating around 1850cals instead, I added 40g nut butter mix to my frogurt for the extra cals and swapped my PB square out for the coffee this arvo.

Not sure what I'm doing till I go out... chillin I guess. I've recently become a little addicted to Law and order SVU and I'm almost at the end of the second season, that kind of fills any day gaps I have between job hunting/ cleaning/ cooking etc. Haha. Actually I think we are going to the circus tonight too, Wade went on a date with a guy he met on Grindr who was just visiting for a few weeks, turns out he's the ring master of a circus that just arrived. The guy gave him 3 complimentary passes so the 3 of us can go any night we want (apparently there's a couple of reserved rows for people with passes so we can go whenever). Haven't been since I was a kid, that'll be interesting!!!

Exercise Bit of a rough one- have a group exercise Zuu class (youtube it, they're absolute hell) with my PT at a park. It's about 4.5kms away- Ash will drop me off on the way to work, but then I have to walk (stagger, crawl, whatever) home afterward. So tomorrow will be close to 2hrs exercise I think, yuck! At least Sunday is a rest day!

Today hasn't ended as planned, I started feeling a bit sick (like getting a cold) in the afternoon, and really tired. Went out for coffee and was really hungry when I got home so I baked some cheese n bacon rolls... and ate 4 of them. Still managed a small deficit though! Wade has to go to work early tomorrow now so we skipped the circus, will go next week. Went to the movies instead and had a coke zero too. The day could've been a lot worse I guess!! Hoping I won't have a cold in the morning and this is just allergies or something- but I feel pretty damn tired so I'm thinking it's not. Gunna sweat it out in the morning!!
 
Freakin hell. Just got back from all my exercise! I survived, so that's something. The class ended up going for about 35mins and I was DEAD afterward, so when I left I walked across the road and got a takeaway coffee to fuel up a bit (ha, the milk being the fuel... I drink decaf. Caffeine gives me mega anxiety/panic attacks). It took me 50mins to walk home after grabbing coffee! HRM said the class burned 365cals and my walk burned 315- I went with the Fitday estimates again though, 290cals and 259 respectively. I'm fully changing food around completely today, I'll change it in my last post to reflect that though!

Not doing much today now Wade is working! Don't have plans tomorrow either... I think on Monday we are going to Wet n Wild (water park) and getting fish n chips for dinner! Depends on the weather, had a fair bit of rain this last week.

Yesterday didn't end well. I was really tired n that's when feeding frenzies usually start... oops. Ate 1000cals over maintenance and way more carbs than what I aim for in a day! Had an awesome sleep last night though, went to bed pretty early (9:30pm) as Ash and Wade were tired, then didn't get up till 7:30 this morning! Went for a 1 hr walk as soon as I got up and today food has been good.

Tomorrow is weigh in, not sure how that'll go after eating so much yesterday... will prob still be retaining a heap of fluid! Totals this week were:

Daily deficit average 326cals
Daily calorie average 2354
Daily Carb average 49.7g

It's actually the best week I've had this month, exercised every day too! Really looks like I would've only been able to lose 300g, but will have to see. Might have to fully bust it out next week to get to my goal this month!

Sigh, made another responsible adult decision... I'm cutting my once weekly PT sessions for now so we can get health insurance. Want to be able to have any dental stuff dealt with straight away without paying crazy amounts. I've already paid for the next 2, so there's only one fortnight where I'll be missing out as after that the gym challenge starts- then I can do like 5 classes a week!

Theme park isn't happening today, husband didn't really sleep and his head is only just starting to feel better. Having a bit of a quiet day today then, I think we are going to the supermarket later and probably for a walk along the waterfront. Signed up for health insurance today so that's all sorted!

Gym was rough today as usual haha, I'm still sore from Saturday too!!

Also weigh in this morning, was expecting it to be awful... woke up all jiggly and feeling like a pufferfish, damn water. Was actually 100g less, I think that should mean if I have an amazing week this week I should see a pretty big drop for the end of the month! Hopefully I'll get to 72kgs, but I'll be happy if I'm less than 72.5... at least it's not too much to catch up on.

Just got back from my PT sesh. Did upper body only today as I'm going to go and do my own leg day on Thu. Pretty tired right now, haha!!

Yesterday ended well, ended the day with around a 650 cal deficit. Going to make sure I keep this up for the whole week, want to end this month well!!!

Not doing much today, I have to go to the shop a bit later to get a lemon to go with dinner... Apart from that, I might get some cleaning done.

Back from my walk!! Took my umbrella this morning, the sky was BLACK. Ha, ended up being perfectly sunny and fine by the time I got home and it didn't rain. Another perfect day down yesterday, 5 more till weigh in!!!

I still have 2 PT sessions left which works out perfectly as that's one next week and one the week after, after that the challenge starts. Woo! Then it's 6 weeks of 4 classes a week. Somewhere in the middle of that is Easter, so no chocolate for me this year lol. Also the few days away that Wade and I are going road tripping on! I'm excited!!!

Those PT sessions are something, aren't they? I always come staggering out of them knowing I worked my butt off.
 
I love my PT! The group classes we do are pretty nuts too, she leads them as a group PT session. When I train with her one on one it's just weights, usually pyramid sets etc... the group classes are mainly body weight (except for when it's raining, then we will usually do an indoor circuit) and are very different. We do Zuu (lots of really painful exercises, mostly plyo, all intentionally designed to squash your diaphram while you do them. Supposedly increases your fitness faster than other similar things like HIIT? No idea!) Sometimes we do stroops which is with those bloody big elastic harnesses- makes things way harder. I guess it's good to mix the training up and it's good for me in the group classes, I actually get to meet and speak to other people!

Yesterday wasn't great, I ate 650cals over maintenance. The rest of this week I really want to end well, so aiming for an 800-900 cal deficit for the next 4 days then I can go back to normal again!!

I'm not exercising today... I didn't go to sleep till midnight (distracted by stuff I was watching and a phone game, haha) so today I'm pretty buggered. Depending on how I feel tomorrow, I'll either do legs then or another Bodyrock.tv class from my TV.

Ahhh, didn't mean for it to be so long in between posts!! I'm about to head to the gym so I'll be quick...

Lost 900g this week (though not entirely sure how, I ended the week pretty badly. Skipped all exercise between Thu and now, oops! Was just tired and lazy!) So it puts me at 1.8kgs lost this month and only 100g away from where I wanted to be, so I'm happy!! Next goal is 70kgs in the next 4 weeks!!

I've also got my dentist appt this week. Arrrgh. 3 days.

Haha thanks MrVee. I might have to put it off till next fortnight now though, will see. Just money issues, we have to pay the first month of the health insurance in full this pay which would've been fine, but I won't get the health insurance card for a week or so which means I'd also have to pay the dental cost in full then get my refund afterward. Not sure we can afford both!

Gym today was really rough after not exercising for a week! Yuck! I survived it though, haha. Eaten to plan today as well which is good. Grocery shopping tonight!

Oh dentist visits......
I didn't go there for about ten years, but I decided it was time again one and a half year ago. Didn't want to end up with a mouth full of bad teeth (was hoping it hadn't come to that allready) just because I couldn't be bothered to go.
Turned out I have pretty good teeth. Been going for my 6 months periodicial. It's the adult thing to do I guess :p
 
Ha, I'm hoping that'll be the case with me but I'm doubting it, I have a few sensitive teeth which is the reason I really had to push myself to go!!!

Man, drama last night! Husband and I went out and did our grocery shopping. When we got home he went to pay our bills/rent etc, and his entire account had been cleared out!!! He called the fraud phone number, because the money was debited out of his account he can call back today and they'll stop it so we'll have the money again tonight... but it fucked us around pretty badly. I had to borrow money off my parents for rent as it needs to be paid today, I have to move my dentist appt, have to call the debt collectors that are handling my old credit card to say this payment will be late... ditto with that first health insurance payment! I guess we are just lucky we managed to do the food shopping without any issues! Ahhhh!!! Food was perfect though.

Weather is crap today, no walk for me. Not doing much today, Wade wants to go out for coffee this arvo when he knocks off work so that'll be pretty much it!

Wow. Interesting day. I went to the shopping centre to grab a couple of things and got pulled in by someone working at one of those kiosks I generally try to avoid... they were advertising diploma programs in a heap of different areas. And now I am starting a business diploma on Mon lol. It means I can claim government benefits which will make life a bit easier while I'm unemployed (because I'll be studying full time).

Dentist appt had to be canceled... apparently the money taken out of our acc was taken by the bank to catch up on my husbands car loan payments, and they refused to give it back (so.... fun covering bills and rent this week. Argh!) Had to cancel the health insurance just so we can pay rent next week!! Which means that and the dentist appt will probably get pushed back a month. Hopefully none of my teeth will fall out in that time.

So... that's life right now I guess. Needed to write it down somewhere!! Going to get a bit more interesting now!
