before bed snack???

Is there anything i could eat if im hungry right before bed? I looked into the freezer just now and stared at the ice cream a good 5 minutes and thought about how bad it would be to eat that right before bed. Im not really on a diet but im just trying to eat healthier. Gotta get the abs for summer time ya kno. So what would be ok to eat before bed? Any good snacks or after dinner eats that you guys eat?

Protein. Eat a piece of chicken (not fried, of course), slices of sandwich meat, a spoonfull of peanut butter.

You don't want carbs since they're such high-energy nutrients. Since you don't have high-energy demands while you sleep (you'll use more fats and proteins than anything) these will be stored as body fat.

Protein, on the flipside is both used for body repair (which happens A LOT during sleep) and is rarely used for energy production as it's not very bioavailable - so you the benefits are twofold. Plus, having extra protein will help stave off catabolism towards the end of sleep.

A general rule for carbs is no carbs 2-3 hours before sleep - and then, make them complex carbs that break down over time rather than sugars.

Cottage cheese.
w/ a ton of cinnamon and 3 packets of splenda!!!!! It tastes just like creamy, sweet, rice pudding!!!!!

But anyways, protein before bed. Cottage cheese is highly recommended because it's casein protein - slower absorbing. And 1/2 cup usually has less than 100 calories but about 15g protein.

I ended up eating some honey roasted peanuts and some apple sauce last night hehe. Nuts have protein right? What about the apple sauce?

Nuts are a source of fat, not protein. Applesauce is carbs - unless you buy unsweetened natural, it also has extra added sugar

30g of peanuts (or 2 tbsp of natural peanut butter) contains 8g of protein. Not much, but not worth scoffing at either.

It is a fairly significant amount compared to other foods, but it's not enough for a meal - plus it's so calorie-dense (obviously, cause of the fat) that it's not worth it for a source of protein.

last night i ate 500g of cottage cheese straight haha
it was my only ration while being out for the night. It's the perfect thing for those nights when you're out and cant suddently stop to make some grilled chicken breasts :p

When i'm on the run and I havn't had a chance to eat, i'll stuff my face with a few quick spoons of cottage cheese - ties me over well.

lately iv been lifting later in the night, gettin done around 10 or so...so i usually have a protein shake when I get home and sometimes a yogurt with some almonds mixed in. Then again I dont know how late you are going to bed and I assume your not lifting at night.
