Before 222+ After 152

When I first started on this weight loss journey about a year ago I faltered and failed two times. I had pretty much given up. But something drove me to start back up and try again. I set my goal to losing 40 lbs (222-172) because I couldn't ever see myself loosing 40+. I mean why would I since I have failed so many times before to even lost 5 lbs?

I started off slowing with cutting out sodas and walking two times a day at work. The lbs came off slowly but surely and as I started seeing results it made me want to work even harder. I then started to cut back on eating out (especially fast food) and adding exercise videos to my "program." It might be cliched of me to say the following (couldn't be more true though) but the first step is the longest stride. The next thing you know it's a snowball effect and you reach your goal.

I wish I could tell you what snapped with me this time so I can share it with others who are just starting their weight loss journey. But the thing is you have to find it in yourself. You are the one who has to make the decisions, it's you that decides to eat a bunch of junk food, it's you who decides to sit on your butt and do nothing. You might not think you have it in you BUT YOU DO because I thought I didn't have it in me and look how far I have come.

The journey is never easy though. There have been many times when I stopped exercising for days on end. There were days when I just couldn't stop myself from binging on everything in my sight. I never fully gave up though because I knew how much hard work I had put in. Couldn't imagine losing months of hard work to just gain everything back again.

And so now comes the hardest part, maintaining. it's a whole 'nother journey. but it's a new journey I am looking forward to. With my new found self esteem I am ready to take this challenge face on and I will prevail!

P.S. I never read over the stuff I wrote so excuse any bad grammar or spelling.

That's great! Such an inspiration!

How long did it take you, from beginning to end?

That's amazing. You look great. Looking at these before and after shots here on the forum is really inspiring and motivating. It makes me believe that it's possible for me even more. :)

Knyt - Thanks it took a little over a year to lose the 70lbs (if I had to put a number down I would say 15 months).
Jana - I am the most laziest person you will ever meet, trust me if I can do it you can do it.

Wow! You look great! I definitely needed some motivation today and I think this was it...lol! Great Job!!!

wow betweenwhiles that is impressive. Your before and afters are great. I have lost 78lbs in 6 months and I agree with what you said about restarting. I have had a few occasions during the 6 months where I didn't go to gym for 4-5 days in a row and had binging days but instead of letting that get you depressed and eventually quit you just got a thats all and I am going to start again. You look great - are you going to lose anymore? I don't think you need to lose anymore which is what everyone tells me too - but I still want to lose 15 more or so. How about you?

People at work tell me I don't need to lose anymore weight. I told them I am going to keep on exercising and eating well and if I lose more weight I am happy and if I don't I still am happy. It's not like I am doing something I don't need to be doing. I don't take things to the extreme like exercising for hours on end and starving myself. Partially it's true but secretly I would like to loose 8-10 more lbs. I am not anywhere near being the lowest weight on the BMI for the normal weight category so I think I can get away with it.

Wow. You are my hero. I'm right at your starting weight and have a similar goal weight. I've also had struggles keeping on track in the past. I got down to just under 200 at one point and hit a roadblock and gradually put all the weight back on over a year or so. Seeing your success gives me hope that my new exercise and eating routine will be the one I stick to. :)

Can I ask how tall you are? I think you look awesome and you are only a few pounds less than me. I'm 5' 5" so the same amount of weight looks like more I think (on me).

Awesome job! You should be SO proud of yourself!

Wow, you look absolutely amazing. Such an inspiration!
And what you said, was really just what I needed today. I just ate a 680-calorie burger, and I was planning to get all depressed about it, but now I just realized... there is time for work out! (and I actually like it), so I'll burn those off in a few hours.

Did you calorie count?

Yeah you just have to keep your head up and keep on trucking.

"Did you calorie count?"

Yeah calorie counting was my main thing to lose weight. Tried to keep breakfast 300, two 100 calorie snacks, lunch 300 and dinner 500.
