Anyhave have any advice on getting past a rut? I have been stuck at 173 for about 10 days now. My present routine is cardio (indoor cycling) 5-6 days a week for an hour, try to mix up the resistance to not get too used to a routine. I am sitting on about 1800-2000 "healthy" calories a day. I bike any where from 32 miles heavy resistance to 45 miles on the lighter days. Just trying to figure out what I need to do differently, I stay away from carbs after my last meal and try to eat 300-400 calories 5 times a day. usually on the lower end of the scale, maybe I am not eating enough, but I feel good and do not have hunger pains and I am not experiencing any lack of energy. I would appreciate any advice..ty in advance:bigear:

I can think of a couple of reasons as to why you may be having trouble.

First, how long have you been on this routine? You may have plateaued in terms of weight loss. I am assuming you are pretty lean and there probably isn't much more fat your body can use as energy. Your body is so used to doing the same thing day in and day out, week in and week out. You are like me. I have been stuck at 165-170 for the past six years and am unable to gain or lose any weight. I have almost the same routine as you. I take spinning 2-3 days a week, a good amount of healthy calories, many meals a day and weight training mixed in. But I am going no where. One thing you can try is take a week off or take an easy week, and then come back the next week really hard or with a completely different cardio routine and shock your body so it doesn't know what is going on.

My other thought was that you may not notice a change in weight, becaues the fat you are losing due to calories expended may be replaced by muscle weight being gained. How do your clothes fit? Are they any looser? That is the best indication of fat loss, but not weight loss...
