Beckster's "homestretch run" diary

I'm sorry I didn't read your trials 'as they happened' :( If anyone has been a consistent supporter, its been you beckster.

As parents all we can do sometimes is hold the 'flaming hoops' steady for our children just to minimize the scorching possibilities as they jump through them. Seeing how you're a great Mother, I know you put on the asbestos glove and grabbed the 'hoop' instinctively with the hopes all lessons are learned in this episode.

What I didn't read in your diary is any weight gains or lack of exercise and this is a really good thing :)

Happy Mothers Day beckster !!

Thanks for all the forum support ;)

Thanks for stopping by everyone, and your encouragement!! I just had to cut my walk short, got out there, and heard thunder in the distance. That on top of a pitch black sky in the distance sent me on my way home. Got home about 10 mins before the sky opened up. Went to my sister's house for the weekend in NH. Wasn't too good with my diet, but back on track now!!

Hmmm, well T2 had to think about that one for a moment. I'd have to say it's equal on both sides because in losing you are working hard to exercise enough and not overeat to lose. Once you get where you are going, it's never over, and you are working hard to keep a balance of exercise and what you eat to stay put. It's a fine line kind of thing. Everyday I have to think about what I will eat, and when I'm going to exercise. Once in a blue moon I blow it, and eat too much, but then I feel sick. I've been using Fitday periodically to observe where I'm at with my cals versus exercise. From what I've read, to maintain my weight loss, I need to stay in the 1900 cal range. That seems like way too much to me, I've been averaging 1500, and am not hungry. I'm not gaining:jump: .

Congrats Beckster. I know that maintaining has its own challenges, but that's something I really hope to find out first hand.

Havne't posted due to working and walking!!! Also, my son who goes to college in California came home for the summer yesterday:jump: :jump: . I'm very happy about that!! My weight has been stable. I have a doctor's appointment third week in June for an asthma check.

Enjoy your time with your son. I wondered why I could never find your diary :). Great job of keeping the weight off Beckster.

Hey Cannon-Thanks for stopping by!! I've relooked at my cal limits for each day, and I think they are high. 1900ish is too much for me I think. I don't feel well if I eat that much. So, I'm staying below it.

I'm going to blow off some steam in here now, 'cause my hubby doesn't get it.
Tuesday is our 25th anniversary. He finally decided to plan something yesterday......I've been dropping hints for over a year of what I wanted. He decided I have to have something silver...I told him I didn't want anything silver. He did it anyway, ugliest necklace I've ever seen, told him to take it back. He doesn't get it, other people go on trips, etc. He plans something 3 days in advance, I am so angry. All I've ever wanted was to matter enough in his life for him to do something really special for this anniversary. I told him what I wanted. He doesn't get it.....ever.

OKAAAAAYYYY!! I got past my anniversary.....Got on the scale, and found I had gained three pounds. YUCK!! Now have two of them off, and working on the last one. I'm really trying to put some emphasis on the conditioning exercises, which I have been slacking off on. For the last month, I've been tracking on Fitday. I know it's not a perfect system, however, it gives me a fairly good idea where I'm at. I did lots of research, and found that to maintain my weight loss, I should take in around 1900 cals, based on my activity level. I think, based on my experience, that is too high. I'm finding that 1600-1700 is more like it. Anyone else have this happen during maintenance?

yeah the BMI thing is never exact. Your body adapts to what you eat also.
Just fiddle around and find what works for you. if you eat more one day then eat a little less the next day .. its a moving average rather than an exact daily amount :0

Thanks Wishes!! I'm going to do that...I'm just nervous that when I get to the doctor's office, his scale will say I've gained a pound.

i think any scale you step on you'll get a different result - you know what your scale is telling you and that's what counts..

Hey Beckster, I'm sorry about your 25th anniversary. As for the maintenance level I have found that my number is much lower than the charts show. I can maintain at 2500 calories, but most charts have me maintaining at close to double that. Go with your own experience there.

Got on the scale, one more pound til I'm back at 53 pounds lost. I had to drag myself out on my walk today. I'm exhausted from all the stress I've been experiencing in the last month.
