Beat muscles groups to train at the gym

Hi, I'm a 19 year old sport student, so I know all about the human physiology etc, but there is one thing I can't seem to work out.
When I got to the gym, what are the best muscle groups to train in each session in order to make training most effective. I am currently doing a regime of arms, the chest and back and then legs, but have heard I should do triceps and chest, biceps and lats, shoulders and legs and do core when I can. Which is fine, but I heard you weren't supposed to train the same muscle group in succession because they will get fatigued, so triceps and chest etc. wouldnt be as effective. Can someone please shed some light!
Thank you very much

You should be training all of your muscle groups regularly to see optimal, balanced improvement. And I think you misunderstood that succession rule. You shouldn't train the same muscle group more than once within 24-48 hours in order to allow your muscles to repair and grow. For instance, leave at least a full day in between training your biceps.

If you have to ask, you're probably best off doing a simple, fullbody, 3x/wk program. When you're ready to start splitting up body parts/muscle groups, you'll know your body well enough to have a good idea of what muscle groups to target together.
