well this is it. I'm starting my diary today and am committed to losing weight. I gained, as a lot of other women, after having my 3 children. And while they have been blessings, they've left body in a mess. I started out on weight watcher about 7 years ago. I lost 35 lbs. on it. When I went in I weighed 185 lbs. I felt like I shook the building I was walking in. I was embarressed! I lost down to 150. I did fairly good for a while, but money got tight and I had to quit. For the most part I kept it off. But over this summer I jumped up to 160. I'm not happy. While I still can't join the meetins, I kept all my books an d am on WW again. So far I've lost 2 lbs. I joined the Halloween Challenge and am drinking all my water. 88oz. every day.I can't seam to give up soda, but I'm down to 1-2 a day. My tenth ann. is coming up in Jan. 2007. I'm going to get slim. I'm trying for 137-140. And trying for the most partof just 5 lbs. a month. If I do better on the challenge great, and if not and I only meet the smaller goal at least I'm still trying! Today I have over ate my points, but am going to do an exercise video to make up for that. I also do Curves evry other day. Any help or suggestions would be soooo great! Good luck all. Mechelle

It sounds like you know what you need to do and are motivated to achieve your goals!!

Good for you for taking that control :)
 
Personally, I think that being on here is a suggestion and tip in itself. It has really motivated me to try harder to stay on track. I am positive that if you keep to your points and continue exercising, you will have your 10th anniversary feeling sexier than you did on your wedding day! :D

Today, I think I have the flu. I should probanly lay down, but I'm not ready for that yet. I didn't get extra exercise in and still went down to 157, so I'm pretty happy. I'm sure that's due to not feeling well, but I'll take it anyway. I don't think I'll exercise today though. Just feeling tooo yucky to bounce around at all!!
 
if you are coming down iwth something - water should help fight off the infection... don't push yourself to exercise if you aren't feeling 100 percent.. rest and fluid intake are very important..
 
Mechelle, get well soon and welcome to the forum.

I know what you mean about sodas. I *LOVE* coke. The real thing, with sugar and caffeine. It's a total fix for me. Reducing the quantity per day is a big step you've taken.

1) When you run out of soda at home, wait a day or two or three before buying more. I try now to go weeks between buying more, so I'm forced to drink water, or tea or green tea because that's all there is.
2) When you are at a restaurant or fast food joint, don't get a soda. Order water. After you've had a glass of water, if you still want a soda, then get one. I found I was sucking it down during a meal without even tasting it, then getting a refill. Now I end up having none or just one.
3) Get canned soda. If you have the 2L bottles sitting around going flat, you'll try to drink them up faster and will also pour yourself more than a serving at a time. Yes it's more expensive, but oh well.

I hope these suggestions help.

P.S. Drinking one can of coke per day equals 15.4 lbs gained per year (150 cal x 365 days / 3550 cal per lb)!!!!!!!!!!!!
 
Thanks guys for the input. I'm in this Halloween challenge and the weigh in is tomorrow and I want to get exercise in, so I'll keep my 1 whole lb. OFF! I just have such a hard time losing that when I do I over do it.

Also I do now buy canned soda. I know what you mean by a 2lt. I really suck it down then. I've been drinking water at rest. too! I also split a meal with my 8 yr. old son! He can pack away the food, so I end up eating way less!

:mad: For whatever reason I gained a lb. yesterday! I am upset about this! Today was weigh in for the Halloween Challenge and that stunk. I'm at 158, was at 157.Just one of those days, I guess. I'll try super hard for next week!!
 
:) I have done soo good today on my diet. I came to give myself a pat on the back. All my water is drank and I'm getting ready for cardio!!

Don't worry about the 1 pound - weight fluctuates. It's the long term down hill progression we're after ;)
 
Here goes! I'm starting on the weekend. With my husband you never know know what we'll end up doing! This is the hardest time for me. But, I'm going to do good!(maybe if I say it enough,I will!) LOL:D
 
Hey be_gone_soon! This is the way I look at soda---it's not inherently evil in moderation. Now-a-days the soda companies are making GREAT alternatives to 'regular' soda. Diet Mountain Dew tastes just like regular mountain dew and it has zero calories. My husband buys these new diet flavored sodas from pepsi--vanilla cream etc...Maybe you could try some of these and see if you can save yourself about 130 calories a day (not to mention you won't retain as much water anymore).

Keep up the good work! You can do it!
 
Kaitie, Thanks for the info. I actually am doing diet now. It has been a switch for me!lol I had to go to a Mexican rest. Get something really hot (spicy!). Then order a diet drink! It has worked Ia m finallt getting used to them!
 
Well I made it through the weekend without gaing, not losing, but not gaining either. I'm starting today to write down all I eat in a day. Lay myself wide open here. So I had
2cops of Honey Comb cereal which is 2 WW points and 145 calorie
1 cup of 1% milk WW 2 points 100 calories.
 
10:00 am snack
Banana WW 2pts. & 109 calories
Total So Far 6 WW pts. & 354 calories
64 oz. of water already with 16 to go for it all
 
Ok I'll be honest I went a little overboard on lunch! Here it goes!!
Sandwich ham, chees, lett, tom. ,bell pepper(red) WW 4 pts. &246 cal.
1/2 red potato (not sure this is accurate or not) WW 1 pt. & 110 cal.
Grean Beans WW 1 pt. & 40 cal.
Poopcorn(snack) EWW 2 & 75 cal(not for sure on cal.!)
Total so far today
WW 18 pts. & 855 cal.
Also 1 aerobic workout done and I'm doing another one shortly!!
