Hi All,

I have been Doing Cardio from a month now, Primarily I am using ARC trainer for the Cardio as it burn calories in lesser time..... My queries regarding Cardio are

1) Do we really need to breakdown our cardio workout between varios equipments for ex in a session of exercise do we reqiure to Mix Bike, Cross Trainer, Tread Mill or Can we go along using 1 equipment ?

2) What should be the ideal heart rate during the cardio workout.

3) Is it OK to have lots and lots of water during the Cardio Session ? I feel real thirsty even after 5 minutes of cardio..

no

2) What should be the ideal heart rate during the cardio workout.

depends on conditioning level

3) Is it OK to have lots and lots of water during the Cardio Session ? I feel real thirsty even after 5 minutes of cardio..

yes, but why are you so thirsty. are you drinking adequate water before training?

1 - Wouldn't see any real reason to have to break it up, but in my experience, I float between 3 different machines to keep it interesting or if some parts of me are sore. The primary purpose of cardio is to exercise the heart and lungs. The calorie burn is actually mostly minimal.

2 - Depends on what you're looking to do with your workout and your fitness level. 180BPM might be OK for an 18 year old athlete, but not for a 45 year old rehab patient.

3 - I don't see why not as long as you can keep it down.

I won't cover the same info that Steve and D did, but wanted to comment on this:

Nope, it doesn't. :) The amount of calorie burn is strictly dependent on your heart rate and your weight. It has nothing to do with the machine. Some people get a better workout running, some people get a better workout on the elliptical, some people get a better workout on the bike. It has nothing to do with the machine and everything to do with the person. :)
