Re: Bankhart Tear Surgery
I just had surgery 8/25/08 for a large Bankhart tear and a pretty large SLAP Lesion in the Bicep where the Bicep tendon had to be stapled back on. I am amazed at how little I can even move my hand. My shoulder surgery in 1998 was totally different, more painful, PT earlier and healing much faster. I'm also amazed that my P T tech tells me how mild and how small the amount of action can be done for excersize. I told my Dr. that I had cleared my (busy) calendar for over 2 months before surgery, and he said that is about right. Now I know that it will take much longer than that, maybe up to the New Year. Before I had surgery, I got together everything I hadn't been doing and should have that took very little body movement and am thinking about doing some of it. Yes, even then it is boring and I am impatient, I hate that my husband even has to help me get dressed and undressed. But want a strong shoulder so will try to do what I must.
My PT tech told me to look online to see more about this whole thing. So maybe you can check on a couple articles I found that have given me some good info. They are: (go to "Google" for Bankhart tear) 1. Dr. Walt Lowe/Shoulder and 2. Wikipedia for Bankhart tear(lesion). They give great info including 'symptoms', 'treatment', 'surgery' and 'surgical recovery'. There are several more on Google, these are the ones that help me so far.
Good luck. It seems that the biggest excercise for recovery is "PATIENCE".
