Balloon in 6 weeks

Hi all,
After a lifetime of dieting, have decided to deal with my weight permanently! I am having the ballon inserted on Feb 20, 2010, with the likely option of having a second reinserted.
I have a bit to lose- I am 175cm/5"10" tall, and I currently weigh 111kgs. (Sorry, just can't think Imperial for weight, in spite of English parents!)
I weighed about 4kg more when I started the process, but have been treated for insulin resistance which is helping. My BMI at the time was 37.
A bit sick of weighing more than the captain of the All Blacks. I am a woman, by the way!
Keen for any support, and keen to offer any support. Open to all, and would particularly love to chat to anyone in Australia or NZ.

Good luck with the balloon. I'm not from Oz or Australia, but I am a fan of Flight of the Conchords, the 4th most famous musical folk parody band in New Zealand. Are they really famous there?

I was reading the Atkins diet and he spoke a lot about insulin resistance. I should talk to my doctor about that. What is the treatment for that?

Hi Scotty,
Very proud of the F of the C! Anna Paquin who plays Sookie in True Blood, is also from NZ, and won an Oscar for Best Actress for The Piano. I am actually from NZ but live in Australia.

Definitely the best bet is to see your Dr. My treatment has been diet and a medication called Metformin, and has worked well. Insulin resistance is related to Type 2 diabetes and is quite common in fatties like me.
