Balanced Weight Loss Program

I am 72 years old and last Dec. I had my annual physical. My numbers blew the Doc away. What is my secret? No secret, just do what makes sense.
1. A balanced diet with portion control. (tough for me). Also the diet was low fat or no fat. Snacks were fruit or pop corn.
2. Exercise, I mean consistently 4 to 5 times a week. At least 30 to 45 minutes of treadmill and/or bicycle, followed by modest weight training. For muscle tone only.
3. I have to admit I took some nutritional supplements, key word here is nutritional. Not diet pills. The reason I took them was that due to portion control and low/no fat diet I was worried that I wasn't getting enough nutriants into my body.

Any way I feel great and look forward to a long life and seeing my grandkids grow up.

other that the extremely low fat part - you've just regurgitated what's said around this forum day in and day out...

In a scientific study, people who ate all whole grains (in addition to five servings of fruits and vegetables, three servings of low-fat dairy, and two servings of lean meat, fish, or poultry) lost more belly fat than another group that ate the same diet, but with all refined grains. A diet rich in whole grains changes the glucose and insulin response in your body, which hastens the melting of fat, and visceral fat, that deep layer of fat, is easier for your body to burn than the subcutaneous fat under your skin
