Thank you for appreciating the post was sent with the best of intention.
A few further thoughts. You say the body is a chaotic thing and that cells are not acting in harmony, and yet ........even whilst you read this, your unconscious mind (as I refer to it), is beating your heart, it is regulating your body temperature, it keeps you breathing 24 hours a day (even whilst you sleep) because if left to our conscious mind...we’d forget. Your unconscious mind also creates new cells and casts of old cells, it fights disease, it could be making a baby (maybe not in you!) and it is digesting your food right now! But you do not do that consciously.
There is a lot more going on here than we give credit to. Our conscious mind likes to think it is in charge...but that is debatable. Because we have been taught to be big left-brained conscious thinkers and because our conscious mind will just run and run....it thinks that it is in charge.
Some people are still working purely on Newtonian physics and gene theory...and yet the human genome project established that we barely have more genes than a fruit fly or a roundworm....how can that be if it is our genes that were responsible? Newtonian physics taught us that the atom was the smallest of the building blocks...but we split the atom long ago (hence, x-rays, radioactivity, even my laptop). Quantum physics suggests that we will see what we believe. Epigenetics suggest that that it is not our genes that control our destiny at all....more like the signals (instructions) that we give to our genes. So where do these signals come from.....?
You ask me “what has this to do with getting ill when I try to lose weight?”
Well the initial suggestion was to check for the obvious physical/medical causes. You’ve done this and ruled it out. Your initial post suggested that this wasn’t the first time...that there was a trend here and that you felt like something seemed to be conspiring against you. (You referred to this as Nature).
What I am suggesting is that in addition to what you are currently doing and the steps you are currently taking to exercise and lose weight...change the signals. It doesn’t take much energy, time or money. Just a little bit of deliberate intention. The signals that I refer to...are the pictures we create in our heads combined with what we say to ourselves. If our actions (exercise and changing what we eat) were in opposition to the blueprint that we hold in our head, then our body may react by battling against us!
You know it used to be widely accepted that the Doctor’s bedside manner would influence how quickly the patient got better. How could that be if it were just down to our cells and our genes?
Despite our wonderful advances in western medical science we seem to have forgotten some of the old eastern philosophy of holistic wellbeing. Could we use both side by side, and progress quicker?
I actually have personal experience with something similar to what you described, which is why I took a moment to respond. I hope you continue to take this post in the same well meaning spirit and perhaps even say “what the heck, nothing to lose, let’s give it a try”. That is your choice and I wish you well whatever you choose to do.
I recognise that posting this on here means that some people will have completely different thoughts. We will see what we believe.
Many of the current “diet” solutions effectively sell ‘calories in versus calories out’. You could argue that is the same as saying ‘eat less, move more’. It may be right, but on its own it does not appear to be sufficient for many people. Logically it would be difficult to argue with (and I have no wish to argue with the essence of this logic), but not everything is logical. Sometimes, in order to move forward we have to throw out logic and try a different approach.
Hopefully the fact that some people have said that they experienced the same things, but moved past them, will give you the re-assurance to be able to put your mind at ease.
I repeat...I wish you well and I hope that you quickly and successfully move past this challenge.
