Avacado Suggestions?

Well I live in CA and we have a fairly long season for Avacados and I was wondering how everyone likes them? I do the usual slices in a salad or sandwich or I'll do some guacamole with garlic powder, paprika, and cilantro. I don't really know any other ways to make it a main part of my meal and I haven't checked food.com yet but I will be.

slices of avocado on a turkey sammich with some sprouts...

one of my favorite salad thingies (I really don't like rabbit food so this is as close to salad as I will get) a cubed up avocado, a piece of seared fresh tuna cut up in chunks, a handful of chopped cilantro and the juice of 2 limes - toss together... best tuna salad ever...

okay.. what's an Avacado

lol probably something i will never push myself to eat since i haven't already

there are two types of avocados -a haas avocado which are smallish and usually have a blackish exterior and the inside is a pale green. and a florida avocado which are green on the outside and inside but much larger... the water content in them is higher than the haas and no where near as flavorful.

Avocado is the key ingredient in guacamole... and it's nice and savory - but in some cultures - like asia - it's served sweetly with some sugar or in a smoothie...

they are relatively high in calories and fat as well but they're worth it.

avocados are best served when really ripe-- to ripen an avocado - put it ina brown paper bag with an apple for a day or so... and it magically ripens

I will copy and paste a recipe I use avacados for - I use it on turkey sandwiches as well.

---Up the nutritional ante of the traditional BLT by trading white bread for whole-wheat to add fiber, subbing leaner bacon to shave calories and fat and topping it with romaine lettuce instead of iceberg for a dose of vitamin A. Don't worry — you won't miss the mayo when you taste this zingy avocado spread.

Avocado Spread
1/4 extra ripe avocado
1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
1 tsp olive oil
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
Sandwich
4 slices reduced-fat (30 or 40 percent) center-cut bacon
4 slices whole-wheat bread
6 leaves romaine lettuce
1 medium tomato, sliced
4 thin slices red onion (optional)

Cream together avocado spread ingredients. Prepare bacon according to package directions; drain thoroughly on two paper towels for 5 minutes. Toast bread and spread the avocado mixture on 2 slices. Top with vegetables, 2 slices of bacon per sandwich and second slice of bread.
