Anyone else have this problem?
Since I was a teen I've had issues breathing when my heart rate gets too high, mainly from running or climbing lots of stairs. I used to play softball, so I was only used to sprinting, not so much endurance running.
Note: A month ago, I hadn't done regular exercise for almost 10 yrs. Also I've never smoked.
When I started using a treadmill about a week ago, I was able to keep track of my heart rate. I noticed that, with faithful regularity, I would start to have a mild asthma attack (or something very similar) when my HR reached around 170. Luckily, everything calmed if I slowed my pace and breathed deeply. (I've only had a real emergency use for an inhaler twice in my life, first after trudging through 3-foot snow, second after climbing about 10 flights of stairs up a steep hill in Quebec City; I thought I would die after the latter.)
I'm wondering if this is an out-of-shape symptom more than asthma, and if it will go away as I do more and more cardio?
